I have the Graingers version of that same welder, had it for about 30 years

If it runs why not keep it, and use it? If you want to up grade, well that's a different story:thumbsup:. That Montgomery Wards welder I bought in the mid 1970s, seems as I remember paying $200.00 or $300.00 for it. Built a lot of things with it. Even Tig welded with it with a Tig rig.

Put it on Craigs list for say something like $150.00. You can always go down in price.

Same here. I moved to a place that don't have a shop and I now have to use my garage, so I'm cramped for space.
My Idealarc suddenly got bigger when I put it in the garage. :confused2:
So now, space is a premium, so I'll probably clean it up and sell it on Craig's list. It has 200+ ft. of lead, and I thought about using some of it on the PA300, but ended up buying a 25ft extension cord for it on ebay, instead.

The arc is even quieter than my Idealarc and much more noticeably quiet than my Miller on AC.

This is my problem, the arc is so much quieter that I don't think it's welding, then "Blammo!", I blow a hole in the piece

:laughing: Yeah, instead of the sound of frying bacon, It's more like the sound of the cat tippy-toeing through the living room.

On the knob sensitivity... is one amp or two that much of a difference??? Just curious :confused3:
