Thanks everyone. Carpet for the loft is coming tomorrow. Railings got pushed to next week. The remainder of the plumbing will be finished up Friday. Stone masons will be on site next week to wrap up the outside.

The stair project starts today. Getting ready to start cutting and finishing the steps. I've got 13 steps to cut, plane, and sand along with risers. Steps are 4x12 doug fir and will be planed to 3-1/2". Hopefully I'll have some finished pics today if all goes well.

Good thing you have your helper there, making sure no bears sneak up on you. :)

lol - he would not have done me much good. After I made about 6" of woodchips he curled up in the pile and fell asleep.

My one day goal was a little ambitious. I greatly underestimated the amount of time to plane and finish all of the timbers. They are all finished now and half are installed. Hopefully I can get them wrapped up tonight.

Stairs are done. Still have to put a finish on them and get the posts attached for the railings. Also need to trim the outside of the stringers.

Wow looks great!!!!

I recall my two days of running treads through the planer - more work then I had planned:)
How are you planning to finish them?

Chris had recommended a flooring sealer/varnish (don't recall the brand name) but we opted for a heavy layer of Linseed oil - wanted a more rustic look - so far it has worked well and blends in nicely with the timbers (treads do scratch though)

How high up is your ceiling fan and can you feel the air moving from it when it's on?
