Eddie I'm sure JK will respond with his experience, but I have the same fans in my house - over our great room the fans are 19' above the floor and ~ 5.5' below ceiling (the ceiling is sloped at 8/12 pitch, so they are ~ 9.5' below peak)
When on high the air movement is quit noticeable even when not directly below - we typically run on med to help air stabilize from floor to ceiling.
These are very good fans for the price:dance1:

That's impressive. I'm planning an addition and the fans would be from 12 to 14 feet above the floor and that's what I was hoping to hear. What brand of fans are they? I think I missed that. LOL

Thanks
Eddie

Wow looks great!!!!

I recall my two days of running treads through the planer - more work then I had planned:)
How are you planning to finish them?

Chris had recommended a flooring sealer/varnish (don't recall the brand name) but we opted for a heavy layer of Linseed oil - wanted a more rustic look - so far it has worked well and blends in nicely with the timbers (treads do scratch though)

I'm planning on using a clear floor poly. Same as used for the wood floors. I did one tread and the color comes out about the same as using linseed oil.

Eddy - my experience with the fans is the same as Bitchin's. We also have the 68" Hampton Bay Altura fans and our setup is the same. You can feel a constant breeze from the fans and they are super quiet. In fact we had my boys birthday party yesterday at the house. House was set at 74 and a couple of people were complaining of being cold with the fans on.

Our railings went in yesterday for the loft. I was able to attach the posts for the stairs yesterday as well so that we can get the rest of the railings fabricated. They made a big difference on the finished look of the house. Here's another pic of the stairs with posts installed as well as a couple of the railings.

Mine are Hampton Bay - Altura (oil rubbed Bronze - they also have a nickle finish available in 68" and 56")
Hampton Bay Altura 68 in. Oil Rubbed Bronze Ceiling Fan-68168 at The Home Depot

I currently have 4 of these fans and will be adding one to my rear deck soon (they have a 60" indoor/outdoor model)

Not talking same ceiling heights, but I put up that same large fan in a tray ceiling 12' up and the smaller one in the MBR 10' up and we have to keep them on low due to the CFM with those fans.

We have had some very good contractors on the job for this project and we have had some sub-par contractors, however this group has taken the cake on shoddy work. I actually called up the owner on this one and let him know that the two guys he sent out would be fired if they were working for me.

To make a long story short our chimney contractor has been tough to get out here to finish job. Simply needed them to fabricate a chase cover and install the chimney cap and flue above the chase. They finally made it out and here are some pics of the job as I found it when returning home from work. After seeing this work I cannot believe these guys are booked out 4-6 weeks.

Here's the screen as I found it. It was just about to fall inside the flue.

I specified a 3" overhang so I could tuck stone underneath the cover. Here's a left and right side comparison of the overhang.

Here are the screws used to anchor the chase cover to the framing. Notice they are tapped through the metal into air. They only used two on each side and used 1/4" sheet metal screws. We had a total of two 1/4" sheet metal screws on the left side holding the entire chase cover down.

The cap had 4 tabs that were to be used to anchor it two the flue. They tapped 3 of them into the flue. The 4th was folded inside the flue as seen in the below photo leaving a large gap where the two meet.

On a more positive note, my new stone crew is onsite and doing great work. I finished trimming out the stairs and stair railings are installed. Plumbing is wrapped up as well. We are finally hitting the home stretch with mainly just trim work left.
