Many years ago, my cousin's pontoon boat did have drain plugs on the back end of each pontoon. But I haven't seen a pontoon boat with such drain plugs in a long time, and I've never seen one with vents. Of course, that's not to say such doesn't exist.

our family pontoon ( 20ys old ) has then drains too.

i had no clue new ones had no drain... hmm... not sure i like that 'feature'...

If you go with the Zinc based half round with flat side rods.. Don't over pay. I've seem them for $3.00 each at shows. You can pick them up for $3.00 per # at your LWS.. Ask for Welco 52 and save some $$$

I've seen pontoon boats equipped with Schrader valves. Pretty good idea to me. 4 or 5 pounds of pressure would be a good indicator of a leak while in the water.

When they built aluminum fuel tanks at work they would fill the tank with water and then pressurize it with no more than 3-5 psi. Any more than that and you are creating a bomb...

I used to build large oilfield tanks and they were tested at only 1 1/2-2 PSI. That doesn't seem like much pressure at all but when they let it out through a 3/4" valve, you'd swear there was 200 PSI coming out!:shocked:
