Very impressive!!!!! I like the use of the sea container. I'm using one for storage right now and will be keeping it as part of my barn when I build it in a very similar way.

Top outside band is 2-2x10's with the inside 1 notched in post. Also a 2x8 added to the inside of the posts. All screwed and bolted to posts. Trusses sit on the 3 boards with 2 hurricane straps per side. 1 on 2x10 and 1 on 2x8.

The shelter has 12-1/2" bolts drilled thru and bolted at corners to the 4 corner posts. The steel there is 1/2" thick rectangular tubing by the doors and 3/8" thick on other end. I added 2- rough cut 2x8's across the top on the ends. They sit inside the 4 corner pads that stick up higher than walls. I have 2 more 2x8" across the center for a total of 6 with 2-1/2" bolts per corner and rough cuts are screwed together with 4" deck screws.

Looks great. Was that $15 psf the total price? If that's 36000 total price that's awesome! I'm wanting to build almost an identical building except with roll up doors on each end. Who's the contractor and do they travel?

I love to read these pole barn threads. Each one is unique in its own way. And its interesting to see the variations in design from state to state.

The price is a little over $15 psf. Im at $38,200 and $1800 in dirt. Plumbing and electrical is extra. He does east Louisiana so doubt he'd do Texas.

Looking great capt! Got to get a start on mine this summer, I hope. But first - nooooo - I have to cut about 30-40 pines!

I had to get 100s of 2"-4" pine off the front 3 acres. It was mostly clear but the owner stopped cutting 10 yrs ago and they took over.

Rusty... Hope I'm not hijacking a thread here. There are a good number of contractors who build pole barns all over Texas. Depending on whether you need windstorm certification or not the list gets shorter. I'm near the coast so I need at least 120mph certification to be able to insure structure and contents to use it as a barndominium. Some builders wanted me to get the engineering requirements for them. If I'm going through that much trouble, I'll build it myself. Most of the people I know in Brazoria County have all had their pole barns built by a half dozen builders from inside a 60 mile circle in NE Oklahoma. I'm planning on Rob-Bilt from Tahlequah, OK. They will get all the certifications needed and I have good independent references for them. A guy in Brazoria, TX has had Rob-Bilt build 3 for him and he lives in 1 of them.

I decided to add treated 2x6x16' between all of the 6x6's to beef up the walls a little. I notched the tops to fit between the top bands and used galv. brackets screwed into the concrete at the bottom and screwed all the girts to it. Looks like tooth picks but really tightened and straightened things up. Waiting on rain to clear to start metal. Don't want the insulation wet.
