They're probably on their way to lay some eggs... it's that time of year.
Nice pictures. Both of the seeding operation and the turtles.
During my research for one of my stories, I discovered that the Tuscarora Indians of North Carolina used turtle shells for calendars. The ring around the edge of the shell has 28 pieces and the back has 13. They had 13 months, or 'moons', each 28 days long. That is 364 days, which was a lot closer than some calendars during similar times. Now when I see a turtle, I can't help but to try to remember which section of shell was for the strawberry moon.
