How do you store you logging/tow chain?

/ How do you store you logging/tow chain? #171
Worthb: door edge moulding was the first thing that came to mind... but the name of the company I work for is ThistleDew (this-will-do) Farms... we make do with what's on hand... free/used/recycled materials for most projects is normal. I'll come across something suitable to use before long.

Thanks for the idea though....

Probably for free.

I did the PVC holder. Really like it so far.

I have a brass bucket (an old decorative plant holder, I think) tied by rope to my FEL frame, and it works well, but will split open at the pressed seam some day. I would worry about a deep narrow PVC like countrybumpkin's, because if you didn't catch the hook on the lip, you could really have a struggle getting them out. It doesn't look like my hand would fit down that size pipe.

Ha, not to worry Shutesbury. Look closely at the picture and you will see he actually stores his chain on the floorboard. The PVC tube is for looks. ;)

Very Funny!! Yep thats were they would end up , on the floor. The tube insn't as deep as it looks but it is a lot nicer than on the floor.

Sad but very true. I built a chain box once--took a long time and some $$--but the chain still got wrapped around the drawbar and three point arms. The chain box wound up with hitch pins and wrenches in it. Must be a guy thing.

Now that I have my ballast box finished, I'll use it to store chain. I left the concrete about 3 inches below the top so I could haul chain and other small tools.20140609_163919.jpg
