Parking brake does no good if the rear wheels come off the ground or lose traction. :)

I just watched a local tractor dealer employee try to load a tractor onto the dealer trailer. Was coming fast on the loading dock and when the front wheels hit the trailer it lifted the truck and slid the trailer forward and dropped the front end of the tractor on to the ground from the dock. Don't know if there was any damage but they ended up loading it 20 minutes later.

I learned quick to block the trailer tires as that shouldn't be able to move while loading.

I wonder whose tractor it was :ashamed:

engage 4 wheel drive if you have it when loading

Bingo!

Agreed 100%

First time I tried to load the NH TL100A on GN trailer pushed F-350 in park, with emergency brake on, about 6' up the driveway. Scratched my head, put tractor in 4WD and loaded immediately.

DOH! changed to DUH!

I always put my truck in 4 high also. This way when you go to park it locks up the front and rear axle.

I go with 4 low and engage the e-locker and lock the parking brake.

Better yet. I always use my E-Locker at the boat ramp.

That is a place were an e-locker will really shine. A limited slip differential may not engage on a boat ramp.

Dumb question but what is an E-locker?

Dumb question but what is an E-locker?

It allows you to push a button to 'lock' the axle so that both tires turn at the same time. With a typical axle, whichever wheel has the least traction gets the power and will slip if there is not enough traction. With a locker, both wheels are locked together and turn at the same rate regardless of traction. An E-locker does the locking electrically. There is also an air locker which does the locking with air.
