Nightmare senario...lost my oil plug and oil

Update......tractor has been running fine for the last 15 hours, no strange sounds coming from under the hood, and no excessive exhaust. Long may you run! Brad

Thanks for the update. Glad it is running fine. I think I will run some Ceratec or Archoil 9300 that would be helpful with the lost of an oil plug. On the MF 265 I am concerned about the oil filter after I found a big dent in it but it did not break the base or make a hole in the filter. There is more than one way to loose all of the oil out of a crankcase.

Last week we changed the oil in the 2000 Towncar 4.6L engine and added Ceratec then drove it for 3500 miles over the next 6.5 days making a sales trip in the mid west and did 150 miles in Canada for the heck of it when going from Minot to Rugby ND.

We did not see a change in mileage but it seems more quiet at idle now. The average trip mileage was 25 MPH driving 55-75 MPH.

They are saying that, but damage doesn't have to be immediately apparent. The presence and extent of damage will remain unknown until the point of obvious failure. Even then attributing a failure to a previous cause is imprecise. Few respondents here can get their head wrapped around that.
