Mine and my wife's reaction was similar, we own a BX2200, BX2660 and John Deere 2305, we really thought on paper the 1026R was the way to go until we went and looked at them, we will just keep what we have.

How do you like the 2305 you have compared to the Kubota's you own? I am sure the one 1 series are probably okay but it's really hard to get past that cheap looking hood. That should be one of the easiest parts to make on the machine.

While we initially liked the 2305, it has not held up, blew a hydraulic deck lift cylinder, $1000 replacement cost, total engine replacement, covered by warranty, jacked it up by the front frame member which we regularly do on the BXs and bent the frame. We really like John Deere CUT and up, just not the SCUTs even though we thought they were the way to go.

I'd like to hear the rest of the story. Isn't the frame made of 3/8" thick material?

Ain't no "rest of the story", we jacked it up to work on the deck and now it's bent. The tractor is used to mow only, so no other stresses on the frame. I was very surprised.

Well I'm surprised no one said the 2210 has more lugging power then the 2305 or 1 series because of emissions yet

I want to know about the $250 deck lift cylinder that cost $1000.

Well I guess I am the lucky one. My 2305 just seems to work. Given I don't do a ton of FEL, brush hog or tilling work.

I also have a 2720. Kind of mixed on it, yet does what I ask of it. Being 6'3" does cause a bit of pain as the seat and throttle just don't fit me.

Ironically, the 2305, even though it is less power, has more usable room.

My wife is drooling over the new 4 series. She likes the bigger toys, just can't really see how it would ever fit the need.

well taco i had same thoughts as you. I have an old john deere lawn tractor that served me well and i was sure i was gonna buy a new 1026 deere when i went looking for a new tlb. I was very disappointed looking at it at the dealer:( i especially didnt like where the backhoe attatches . I looked at massey and kubota and found the bx25 was a much stouter machine. Im very happy w my bx. Btw i still have my old deere lawn tractor, cant get myself to sell it:)
Hey don't want to start a color argument here... but I am in the exact same 'boata' as you. I can't give up my JD lawn tractor either. It's awesome.

If all you are looking at is the skin & do not like plastic, then it is true that the 2210 is more solid built.
I bought the 1026R for what is under the skin.

Much better seat & ride.
Position control 3 point hitch.
Easy to remove 3 point hitch arms.
Drive over auto connect deck & PTO.
Fuel tank in fender.
Also not afraid of blowing up the rear end while using a piece of PTO driven equipment.

As for the 2720, I owned one of those also. That was the most disappointing tractor I ever owned.

I agree, the 1 series is well designed UNDER the skin. I didn't like the look or feel of the rubbermaid trash can lid they call a hood but would rather have the 3 point upper link anchored to the frame as in the 1 series than the way they built the cheap-assed aluminum transaxle on my 2210!
As for the rubbermaid hood, I trashed the metal hood on my 2210 and it is very expensive to replace! I was lucky to find a lightly scratched one on ebay for only $300.oo. Now I cringe every time my hood is scratched by a low tree branch. The plastic hood may be more forgiving.
