My dogs killed neighbors chicken

/ My dogs killed neighbors chicken #171
I confess that I'm rather confused, please set me straight. The neighbor came over in the middle of the night intending no good... her chicken died in the crossfire. Because that's the only way that I can get from post #1 to post #168... and yes, I have been following this as it unfolds so have read every post.

The chicken didn't die in the crossfire. The chicken was illegally trespassing and the dog/dogs were protecting the owners home under castle doctrine law.

Sorry, I forgot to use the sarcasm font. :D
Thank you for setting that straight...

My take on this entire thread is that I'm glad I don't live on 2 1/2 acres.

I understand that.

I'm still curious as to what your question has to do with ANYTHING pertaining to this topic (other than perhaps you coming across as a Mr. Tough guy or sociopath).

LOL, I was wondering the same thing

sociopath was my choice
:drink:

I was thinking about this thread today because the dogs I had would have had our chicken deflated in no time flat. Our current dog chased the bird to the fence(chicken was in the dog run area), then the chicken got caught in some vines and the dog laid down behind it, came up to get me and then ran back down to lay down...I may have to try to take her hunting. She points in the woods and loves to retrieve.

Yes you definitely want to capitalise on that trait. My last lab taught herself to retrieve and would bring them back alive; the male I have now went hungry too many times and I doubt he will ever bring one back intact.

Well tough guy, How many intruders you kill?

Just the black and dark ones. And let's just say I have put my share of chickens in the pot. Now, back to the thread... The chicken has totally recovered due to modern medical advances, although will be on disability from now on, the dog is in anger management therapy, and the new neighbor lady has become very friendly. I believe that is where we left off, right?

Maybe that's it....
Maybe she was a little "overly friendly" to the op and the dog sensed it!
:D

Are you obligated to give a warning shot before you shoot to kill? Anybody try and explain that to the chicken? I bet there were bits of corn sprinkled on the ground leading to the dogs. Baiting chickens now, doesn't that beat all.
The answer to getting rid of the neighbors is to get some skunks, and they like their chicken too. And if they are rabid, all the better. ...Kind of lucky the woman didn't demand that the dogs be tested for rabies.
Castle doctrine- from the dogs point of view, no one spritzes the fire hydrant unless its them.
..........But I bet the dogs belong to the OP's wife and it was her interests they were protecting when they bit the woman- how dare that female neighbor come to fool around with the husband of their mistress and owner! Of course someone is going to get bit! ....covered all the angles I think.
