85 degrees heat index of 95. Got the shrubs done and then in for a shower.
will spend the afternoon in the nicely cool basement listening to some Allman Bros to keep me moving...
ancient stereo in the basement, running a huge old video disc player that also had a cd slot in it. And it refuses to die...
built like a tank. Run by a 30+ year old Sony receiver that proudly announced digital pulse power for its amplifiers, someone else can explain that,
driving two sets of equally ancient Bose out door speakers that still put it out.

Little early for a cold beer but then I have a lot of fluids to replace...:drink:

since I'm not a texter, I'm not up on acronyms I suppose, so I had to look it up...:confused3:
Pronounced 'swimbo': 'she who must be obeyed'. Your wife, dumbnuts! She's the kind that makes you go to SOFEs 'significant-other forced events'!

ah, got it. But that could be your Mother, your Wife, or your daughter...:D

80 and mostly cloudy ... supposed to have thunderstorms starting in about an hour ... wife says they are building.

I just woke up, still on the first cup of coffee ...

Worked up in the shed until about 4:30 AM last night. Got the automatic drain valve installed on the air compressor, the stationary tub leveled, the faucet installed on the tub, and more CPVC glued up for the plumbing.

Got the end of 3/4 poly (water) supply line dug out the other day ... it appears that the doofuses that originally installed it ran it in the same trench as the electrical supply to the shed ... the line is laying right on top of the AL direct-burial wires where they turn 90 degrees and go up into the conduit on the outside of the building.

Not exactly sure what I want (or need) to do about that ... :(

My folks argue constantly. Always have. I fear when the 1st one passes, the other one will not know who to argue with. Could end up being me....

Mom will be 88 next month. She is noticeably losing her thinking abilities, which she says she realizes. At the same time she doesn't want to be wrong about anything and is incapable of accepting suggestions. For example, we were on our way to the city park, I had asked her to drive so I could see how that was going. She stopped at an intersection and put on the left turn signal when the park was to the right. I said I think she should turn right to get to the park; she turns left. The park has been in the same place for the last 100 years.

The driving is getting a little shakey too. Rapid acceleration, 35 mph in a 25 mph residential zone. I know it makes her nervous to drive with me in the car, so I didn't ask her to go far or through any thick traffic. I tried to explain that the slower she goes, the more time she has to process information and react. I doubt it took. She hardly ever leaves town anymore when driving but there is more to watch for in town.

I haven't known many dementia or Alzheimer's sufferers, but those that I have known tended toward accentuating their core personality traits. In Mom's case, any sort of discussion rapidly becomes something highly irrational and very emotional.

70 degrees at 4:30am, going up to 91 but rain is on its way in this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow, one to three inches predicted, local flood watches up.
boy we need that rain

and before the rains start I have a huge load, or two, to go to the storage locker, the product of boxing and cleaning for 14 hours yesterday. I'm wondering if there is now more stuff in the storage lockers than in the house...including all my farm implements and one tractor. The Kubota is still over at my friend's farm/ going to mow his property later this week after the rains stop. and then I have to decide whether to haul my tractors to NC myself; sure have a big enough truck..., or pay the movers to do it. Kinda want to do it myself; though I can only rent up to a 5 ton equipment trailer on a regular license; even though the truck will pull 14 tons on a gooseneck hitch. gee officer, I'm just moving my tractor from my PA field to the NC field. ka ching
I bought the chains and binders; problem is the tractor with FEL and the field mower might be too long for anything I can rent myself.
which gets me back to hiring someone else. that will be next week's challenge; all booked for challenges this week...;)

going to be light out in half an hour and I will be quietly loading that truck.

76 this morning high of 90 later with big storms. Heavy rain tonight and tomorrow, then big cool down ending up with cool wedge on Friday with rain and high in 60s. Another busy week on tap. Door on ice maker broken have to take door off to fix. Did get cars cleaned yesterday but no grass mowing big storm came about 3:00 and got everything too wet. Oh well another day I guess

76 going to 94...finally the rain prediction gets up to 50% for tonight. We've only had a half inch this month, and most of that was 11 days ago. Each step on the lawn leaves a crunched down footprint. Yet, we had such a wet spring.

Dave, sorry to hear about your mom's problems.

Drew, you know you really want to see how your truck will tow. Does sound like a very big load.

Poured second cup of coffee. 62° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 80° with partly cloudy skies, then thunderstorms in the evening. Got the Tractor and Mower washed ans wax yesterday. Now to get started on 35' of torture.
Dave1949 & Irv, not a good thing when our loved ones start losing their mind. Had to put my 95 year old mother in a nursing home last year. She has Dementia. Hard to go visit her. She know who just about everybody is. But cannot figure out where her house is. Not fun visits. She know who put here in the Nursing Home. I keep going to visit her 2 times a week. Some of the visits are less than 10 minutes. Others visits are longer. It helps to remember all the good times we had before her mind started playing games with her.
Good Morning All.

Drew - I am jealous of your big grand adventure.

Dave - I feel your pain...

I have a job fair in Reston tomorrow and one up at BWI on Thursday, but I just want those guys I interviewed with on Thursday to just hire me... I wish I was more patient...

Almost done with all this outrageous legal document writing and collection for my Big D. I hate this... 99% of this is just to inflate the lawyers bills and has NOTHING to do with the issues at hand... GRRRR...

Rumor is we get some crazy T-storms tomorrow... I need to mow and bush-hog maybe later this week.

Be well all,
David

Thanks for the thoughts, guys. I finished mowing the pasture yesterday, then changed the oil and filter on the genset. I worked in the barn, organizing the shop. Going to continue that effort this am, after the gym.

Have a good one!

Good Morning. 0935, sunny, 86F {heat index 101} with 77% humidity. Forecast high of 91F with 20% chance of thundershowers this afternoon, and a low of 73F tonight.

I'm through with my lifting, and after I pick the melons, cantaloupes, cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers, I'm walking to the river for a swim. Last week when I went, I held out for 25 minutes, broke up in three segments. Today I will try for 30. If I remember my camera, I'll post a picture.

Mamma is 86, and does have trouble remembering things like she used to. But she can still drive in the small towns around here. {Altha, Blountstown and Marianna} But for Doctor's visits in Panama City, Sister or I have to drive her. She still does some work with her flowers and in the garden. And she likes a stiff drink of bourbon. I was going to say good bourbon, but she is still as cheap as she ever was:eek:

Hope everyone has a good day.

Larro
