Good morning!!!!

We used to swim in our pond years ago...but that was before a young lady who was a college student was on a zip line across a small river here in GA very much like Larro's when she fell into the water...she had a small scratch from falling and she caught that flesh eating bacteria disease...all of her limbs were amputated....The articles I've read say the bacteria thrives in warm bodies of water in the south....Sooooo no thanks....Larro be careful...Drew has a point here....It is beautiful though...something out of Tom Sawyer...

The Chipola River is spring fed, so it's pretty cold. I have heard of folks getting the flesh eating thing in the Big {Apalachicola} River. If there is a little color to the Chipola, that means we are getting rain. When it's crystal clear, the farmers are all crying. And it doesn't matter how muddy or full it is, it is full of college students every weekend. There was only one vehicle down at Lamb Eddy Park, where I swam yesterday, but it will be packed with trucks with kayak racks and boat trailers on the weekend.

OK - cold water and spring fed helps I would think...just be careful not to have any cuts and not get any up you nose....that flesh eating thing is nothing to play with Larro....;)

I see Larry's location is FL ... although I'm not sure if that where he is doing the swimming he references ...

Personally, I'd be more concerned about larger things in the water that might eat me ... although the ones you mention are a concern as well.

Here in NW Florida, we eat the gators, not the other way around. If someone tames up a gator at a fishcamp with scraps, he is soon cooked. My section of the river sees a lot of people, so we very rarely see a gator. On to the south, between Clarksville and The Dead Lakes, gators are not as rare. The same with snakes. They both fish for a living, so they are going to live where they have the best chance of finding fish and not a .22 to the back of the head.

I'm sure it is bad, but I have never been one to worry about stuff like that. There is a much greater chance I will get hit by a log truck on the way to town today than catch something like that. But I still need to go to the grocery store.....

Speaking of which......

Good Morning. 1125, thunderstorm, 75F with 95% humidity. Forecast high of 87F with 80% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, and a low of 72F tonight.

I'm off to do my weekly trip to Marianna in a few minutes. I was hoping to wait out the rain, but it seems to be hanging around. I had got out early and turned on the soaker hoses in the garden. Then when it started raining, I had to wait for a break in the lighting to go turn them off.

Everyone have a good day today.

71F and only .50 inches rain last 24 hours. Dry this am, but maybe a squall just off shore.

Yea, Drew, if I could figure that out. My 10kw of solar panels only generated 8 kw of power for all day Sunday.
On the plus side, the pool does stay pretty well flushed out. It is 8 ft in deep end so I guess theoretically it has already refilled at least once ytd.

Replaced the logic boards in my 2 inop garage door openers. Read something about lifetime warranty but was never able to get a live person to talk to me. A friend did tell me that when he had some work the labor charge was a bit high. I suspect buying the boards and doing myself was likely more economical, less than $120. Openers were installed in 2007.

Plan is to get back to building shelves in the tractorshed and getting more stuff organized.

Be safe
Have a great day.

Yeah ... well ... all's I remember from when I lived down there is someone getting consumed by a 'gator ...

Big story in the St. Pete Times at the time of course, given the gore and horror of it ...

I believe it happened a good bit north of the Tampa Bay area, and IIRC it was someone that was diving (with tanks) in a large spring that fed a river ... wouldn't want to hazard a guess as to the name, as it has been too many years ...

It's not badness as much as stupidity. Like what happens right after someone says, "hold my beer and watch this." And I'm sure there is a mathematical formula that could track the inverse ratio of the number of rednecks per square mile compared to gator lifespan:D

My father in law would be a good example. He spent most days at a friend's house in Pine Island, a community just north of Blountstown. It is real close to the river swamps off the Apalachicola River, and there are several drainage ditches and holding ponds. There was a pond next to his friend's house, and a young gator lived there. My father in law suffered from Parkinson Disease pretty badly at the time. He could only walk at a slow shuffle, but he went out everyday and fed hotdogs to that darn gator. He would clap his hands the gator would come running. All the neighbors were scared he would fall down when he was feeding the gator, so they slipped around and killed him when my father in law wasn't there. He was pretty upset that his 'friend' was gone.

... hmmm, nice box of chocolate Entemann's donuts might go over well with that morning crowd...;)
and then David you can answer your girl's questions about the birds and the bees. Good luck. :D
Miniature golf anyone?

It can only be good David, they're your girls.

Drew,

You crack me up sir. They are my girls so pretty much YES they would love donuts...

I did the Panera Bagel special on Tuesdays and got them some Cinnamon crunch bagels for breakfast, and we'll make sandwiches out of Asiago cheese bagels for lunch... And there will be a couple left over for me later...

The big girls already are past the birds and bees lesson, the baby is still my baby and I'm not ready for that to change...

I'm just happy to have them with me whenever I can. Yes, they are awesome good girls... No sure I can claim credit for that though...

Be well all,
David

Up a bit early this morning...

65 degrees right now and just starting to rain (I was out with the dog about 10 minutes ago). Looks like a high of 79 and rain today.

I'm supposed to have dinner with fellow TBNer Sigarms this afternoon. He and family are visiting Vermont for family business.

Good morning TBN'ers!!! Been so long since I have been on here. I miss talking to all of you!

Off to work a 10 hour shift at work. Hope everyone has a good day! :)

70 and only heading up to 84. Looking forward to a perfect night tonight at 57. More caulking today and taping up windows with plastic so I can start re-staining the house with an airless sprayer. The prep work always takes the longest. Many trips up the ladder.

64 degrees this morning high close to 80 but coolest temperatures for tonight. Big rains and storms did not materialize here yesterday but did end up getting pretty wet in last rain that came thru. Last day this week working out of town and today is hump day so all must be good. Friday and Saturday right now look to be dreary and cool in our neck of the woods

Drinking second cup of coffee. 52° with clouds this morning. Heading to 67° with some sun in the afternoon and rain in the late evening. Off to PT this morning. Then back at the motorhome wax job.
Good Morning All.

Job fair went better than expected, I got 4 solid job leads ad I've followed up with all of them, so now I wait to see if anything pans out. The guys from last week who I really just want them to make me any offer and I will take it also had a brief conversation with me yesterday and have reached out to the actual hiring manager, so I'm waiting there also. I wish I were more patient, less stressed out and fearful.

The visit with the lawyer just was what it was, I've still got one more document to produce and he has the rest for making copies etc.

The weather yesterday was amazing. Sunny humid and fine one minute, the next torrential rain. Up in Reston at 2pm or so it was raining so hard as I was driving homewards that the street drainage simply could not handle it and we were splashing and kicking up rooster-tails and could not see... I actually worried about loss of control for about 5-6 minutes...

Today is supposed to be cooler and less humid.

Soon I'll be off to go get my girls for the morning...

Be well all,
David

50*F this morning in BG, Ohio.

Nasty storm passed over our area in Maine yesterday evening. Radar tracked a tornado moving at 50 mph over Industry but I don't think it touched down anywhere according to the news. Some washed out roads seems to be the worst of it. A strong or large tornado in Maine would be very rare fortunately. Sharon is fine and only lost power for a bit. She said the dogs were taking cover for a while. :)

David MFW, hope your job search ends soon.

Have a good one!
