Same thing I use on all my haying implements. Permatex aersol chain lube. I carry a small can in every toolbox on all my implements. My balls are tight too. At my age, they had better be..............

I was always told to wipe all the dirt and old lube away completely, clean completely with diesel (or in today's world some sort of parts cleaner) until totally clean and dry off good. Load it with enough grease any dirt that sticks doesn't make it into the joints. Repeat often enough to prevent the dirt on the surface of the grease from being worked in. Of course that was told to me many years ago by guys that would be 90-120 years old if still living, I'm sure other newer solutions are better in some way shape or form (although I'm not sure how, lots of those old guys seemed to make use of things a lot longer than most of today's folk)...

Synthetic ATF and diesel fuel, it's my universal lubricant for farm and tractor-type stuff.

plain old grease is what i use, from FEL, to backhoe pins and bushings. to 3pt hitch lift arms and top link. a little PB blaster on turn buckles for top link and side link.

just like greasing any other fitting, except there really nothing there to cover things up. put some on a towel and rub it on a little bit, don't need no goob of gunk, a few minutes of things bouncing around and it works it way in, and call it good enough.

as much as things bounce around on the 3 pt hitch and move about. there always some play in things anyhow.

Been real happy with Fluid Film here. Great for the balls, turnbuckles, top link threads, etc...

It is the best I have ever found.. some have mentioned it collecting dirt, I dont see it.. I put it on the PTO shaft too. And just like you the top link threads and all of the SSQA linkage. It is a lot like motorcycle chain lube, except it smells much better and contains "sheep grease" Lanolin also know as wool wax instead of some petroleum product. It sprays on as a liquid and hardens up into a grease. Fluid Film is the closest to a "miracle lube in a can" that I know of.

I use rainwater, condensation, a little bit of dirt, and some rust mixed in it. Well, it does last a lot longer than Fluid Film!!!

Don't line the tractor up properly to the implement so you need to fight and struggle to connect things. Once you bust a knuckle or two the blood and sweat lubes things up well. It dries quick in the hot sun is the main downfall...

Graphite would be the better choice, the other choice would be use nothing. Any kind of waxy or oily coating is just going to attract dirt which will work just like sand paper to wear out the joints faster than using nothing.

You don't bust many knuckles on rusted turnbuckles do you?

Fluidfilm for me.
