I just got a used BX2200 package, part of which contained a BX2750 50" front mount snowblower and quick hitch. While the tractor was in nice shape, the blower was abysmal - looked like somebody tried to suck a bowling ball though it. The fan is seriously mangled, augers not too bad but a little bent, and the overall body has a few tweaks and dents itself. I got it all apart this weekend and will begin pounding/torching/welding it back into shape. In the meantime, I figured I might as well change all of the bearings while I have it apart - I found one nice one - the rest are getting a little loose and crunchy.

SO (I told you that story so I could tell you this one) - I need bearings, but I've never seen any like this - the races aren't flat like a normal wheel bearing - they're rounded, so they fit into the tapered holders that squash them into place. They're all 1" ID, but some have extended inner race sleeves, and most come with a locking collar. I haven't called the dealer yet, but I have to imagine the mark-up by Kubota is ludicrous, and I need all 7 or 8 of them. Are these standard bearings, available at any bearing shop, or should I take out a 2nd mortgage?

Lastly, the auger drive transmission is leaking at the intake shaft seal (coming from the fan). The parts manual shows the transmission as a complete assembly. I'm sure I can get a suitable 1" seal from a bearing shop, but once I pull the transmission apart, what type of seal will I need to put the case halves back together?

Thanks!!

Quick update - turns out the bearings aren't TOO obscenely priced. $15-$16 at Messics, but out of stock and backordered everywhere I've looked, so price has suddenly become secondary to availability. Hope I can find them somewhere else.

Any pictures? I'm having a hard time understanding your description.
Kinda sounds like pillow block bearings, should be available at any bearing supply house.

How about numbers on the bearings/races?

Sounds like a standard 1" bearing to me. That price is on the high side. A good farm supply store should be able to supply them. Take the gear box seal out and take it to once again a farm supply store. They should be able to match it up.

Yes - they are called stamped plate pillow block bearings (as I just discovered). I have them out and can being them down to a bearing shop - I was just hoping that somebody had already done the exercise and found somewhere online. My experience with buying dirt-bike bearings is that the bearing shops are pretty expensive. $15/bearing doesn't sound out of line for a typical bearing shop, IMHO - AND I am addicted to the convenience of internet shopping :).

Well let me give you an example of bearing prices. I usually go to Haiti once a winter to drill water wells under Lifewater Canada. Lifewater Haiti wanted me to bring in 20 one inch bearings when I came. The local Napa store wanted around the $12/bearing. A farm supply store in the next town quoted me a little over $5/bearing so I bought there and when I bought 20 the price went down by about .50/bearing. While I was in Haiti I showed the manager there how to buy from eBay. The price was $22 per 20 bearings delivered to Lifewaters freight depot in Fort Pierce FL. Freight to Haiti would have been about $1/pound so that would have added a little more.

If you can get the number for the bearing off the side of the bearing just google that number. "XXXXXbearing" should do the trick.

The NAPA store likely quoted you SKF bearings, & the farm supply/ebay bearings were probably sourced from China.

Sounds similar to the bearings I had to replace on my Farm King snow blower. Surprisingly I found all of them at our local Farm and Fleet.
Do they look like any of these?
Daido / General Farm Equipment / Farm Supplies / Farm & Livestock at Blain's Farm & Fleet

Yes - these are similar to the ones I need:
Daido Tru - Pitch Self - Aligning Pre - Lubed Insert Bearing (Diameter: 1") at Blain's Farm & Fleet

AND, these are the flanges that hold them in:
Daido 3 - Bolt Triangular Flange (Diameter: 7/8

Still not all that cheap at $9. I'll grab a couple of the old ones this weekend to see if I can find a part number - if they are printed on the side like a normal wheel bearing, I should be all set one way or the other.
