Buying Advice Kubota L3800 or L3901 Ready To buy

Get email to toss a heavy impliments on both. Manipulate the 3pts & see jow smooyh they are. The issue usually only shows up with some decent weight on them when trying to lift things in small measures. Like raising a box blade 1" or something.

All things being equal I wouldn't pay more for emissions stuff, which is the only major change. The jerky hitch on the old models only affected some machines & may not even be a concern to you.

I wouldn't get a gear tractor though. HST all the way for me, maybe a GST/PowerShift but not a gear. Transmission preference varries though.

I agree, put something on the 3pt and see which one you like best. As for the Tier 4 stuff, it doesn't seem to hurt fuel "milage" and probably will result in a little less smoke and smell, but the old models were not very smokey or smelly anyway. The Tier 4 may be a little less loud also. Is all of that worth $1000 more? That is up to you. +1 on the HST transmission in this type of tractor also.. you won't regret it in my opinion.

I was also stuck between the l3800 and L3901. In the end I went with the L3901 and I love it so far! The shuttle shift is what pushed me over to the newer model. My 3 point hitch operates smooth with my box blade and my cutter. The only things I am conserned about is all the emission components down the road. Hopefully Kubota did their homework and it will be trouble free!

That $1000 wont be the end of the expenses related to Tier-4. Ive never seen any DPF/EGR situation (at least on a diesel pickup) that didnt cost money to maintain/replace down the road.

that's not been the case so far with what we've seen with tractors. By and large, its been pretty problem free. Any issues we have had where caused by the owner.

Thats good to hear, especially from a retailer who has to handle warranty claims and such and can speak to this issue first hand.

Well on my way home from a long hitch offshore. Communication has been scares when you work in the middle of the ocean for 28 days at a time. Anyhow I signed paperwork for the 3901 last week. Athens tractor took care of all the documentation amd they delivered it last tuesday. Cant wait to get home and test her out. Once again all help is well appreciated.
