You're all engineers. Let the poor sole fix his tractor and be done with it.

Well thanks but I have to disappoint you. I aren't an Engineer, just an old farm boy who spent his life off the farm doing as the boss told.

All this arguing about turbulence & flow restriction & temp readings is ridiculous and it's turning this thread into an unrecognizable mess. Virginia Joe needs to check his timing before he can move on to the next step. Why don't we all leave our egos at the door until he does that so we can actually help the guy, hmmm?

If you are not qualified to do your dentistry. Do you go to the internet for advice before drilling cavities? If dude is in over his head with "over heating. He is going to spend a lot of time and money while possible making things worse.

It costs nothing to check the timing and look under the distributor cap to see if the centrifugal advance is free and operating properly. ;)

The whole point of proper step-by-step diagnostic procedure is to avoid unnecessary spending. Jumping around randomly replacing parts that may or may not be needed wastes time and money.

if you want to get mired in an endless over-complicated 'discussion' about physics and mechanical theory, talk to an engineer. If you want to get something fixed, talk to a mechanic. :p

Virginia Joe - anything to report?

Ditto VJ :confused2:

Y'know, if engineers were forced to wrench on their own design prototypes before they went into production, the mechanic's job would be a thousand times easier. ;)

Now that I think about it, I reckon us mechanics have ya'll engineers to thank for our job security. So... thanks a lot.

:p :dance1:
