Sure, we all have one. If Sodo is willing, he is more than welcome to bring his welder over so we can do some testing together:cool2:. He is only an hour from me.
I'm sure this welder is at the bottom of the pecking order. I'd really like to try a top of the line 120-volt Mig welder.;)
When it comes to 120V welders you remind me of the black knight in Monty Python's ' The Search for the Holy Grail'...:D

Okay SA, you got me going so I decided to go out in the shop and weld up a 1/8in piece of scrap using my Miller 211 on 110v. It's 90deg plus in my garage but I couldn't stand the local news anymore tonight anyways.

One side weld was set on Auto feed for 1/8in .030wire. The other side was done off the Miller chart inside the case... manual setting is 6/60 on the volt scale and wire feed (whatever that means?). Which weld do you 'like' better? Can you tell any difference? One better than the other? Voltage setting was about 10% higher on one side. Wire feed I have no clue since auto feed setting doesn't tell you what the rate is so no idea. I also have no idea whether this post has any value at all... but it sure felt good to weld than whine.

A classic! Gets better every time I have seen it, and I wouldn't mention how many times I have seen it! :D

They're both decent welds. Maybe a little slow on travel speed. Typically more volts gives you a wider flatter bead. I'd guess the second weld had the higher volt setting because it's a little flatter profile.

Hey Arc, I will take 'decent' as a compliment... I am still and probably always will be a 'hack'. Actually the second pic was a bit lower volt setting (manual setting) but like I said, I don't know what the wire speed was on the first one, so the second pic could have been at a slower wire speed (making it hotter, right?) hence flatter? I think my travel speed was about the same for both. Curious though... I thought my travel speed was good (totally based on looks) but could you tell me why you think 'a little slow'?

Wow
Nothing bad prior to 3:37 then pruned at 4:52. Must have missed something in that hour and fifteen minutes

Dang I missed it too.

:popcorntub:

I'm outta town until September though, can't do much until then. Curious How a "Lincoln 100" specs compare to a "Miller 135" specs.
