That is really nice. Looks like you know what you are doing.

I am just trying to get into being able to do what you are doing. All the pictures and stuff really help. But, the one aspect I never see on TBN is the very beginning of the project when people do the measurements and layout to ensure the structure is perfectly square. Is that just pretty easy to do such that pictures are not necessary?

I use math. If "C" is the diagonal measurement,,,, "A" is the length,,,,, and "B" is the width, follow this formula.

C = the square root of A squared + B squared.

A cheap little calculator makes it pretty easy.

Looking great Kevin.

Formulas work also, but the easiest for me is what Kevin does, measure the diagonals and make sure they're equal. If they are, you are square.

Thanks for the comments everyone. The shed is 12x20 with an 10/12 pitch roof. We got the rafters up this afternoon before the rain started.

Interesting stakes. Are those rebar with clamps to the forms? I usually use wooden stakes but that might be easier.

Yes, I used some rebar and clamps That I had around. The one advantage is the rebar is easy to drive into the ground, even if the soil is rocky.

Looks good, but I have to give you a little grief -- with such a nice flat floor to work on, you could have sheathed the walls before standing them up -- that way you can square them up with the sheathing and take advantage of easier handling/nailing of the sheathing with it horizontal on the floor. But that's my only nitpick, so get back to work! ;)

My building skills aren't that good so I just put up a Clearspan Truss arch building, 100 feet long x 38 feet wide x 16 feet high. My wife and I put it up, and the tractors and post hole digger and some air powered screw guns. That was 15 years ago and she's still good to go. Best part, because it's considered a 'portable building' in Michigan, it's exempt from RE taxes.

Best 10 grand I ever spent.

I see a few things that wouldn't pass inspection. Are you not getting a permit?

In NY, is this a considered a permanent building subject to code and inspection?
