3/4 ton mpg empty?

   / 3/4 ton mpg empty? #61
Okay, I mentioned the dodge Eco diesel after the the Fords 1/2 ton was mentioned. I'll take all the blame!

To do things properly my 18 year old Dodge Cummins extended cab 4x4 with 3.55?? 3.54 ?? And the stock auto gets 25 mpg empty, 18 mpg. with a 2500# camper on it and 14 mpg with camper and towing a 15k trailer. It was a little overloaded I guess. Those mpg figures are for 5500 kil. Trips.

The audiometer is at 240k with the same transmission with body rust just starting to require some attention. At least I think so. Haven't stepped through the floor yet. It's spent most of its life with the camper trailer combination.

No reason to take any blame. It was perfectly valid for the discussion. I think some people just can't stand to see 'Ford' in print.

Seeing "ford" has nothing to do with it. Seeing the same old stuff over and over again no matter what the thread is about is the problem. Thread was about 3/4 ton pickups right?

When people are telling you that 1/2 fords with an eco boots tows better than 1 ton dually diesels and then tell you that the 1/2 dodge diesel can't keep up with a mid size suv obviously we are no longer discussing 3/4 ton pickups and you guys are right back to stroking your eco boots engines and bashing the eco diesel, as usual.

I think you fellas believe that nobody has noticed what you are up to. But we have. That is why multiple people call you out on these threads, because you are so predictable.

Back to the subject of 3/4 ton pickups. I read that info that compared the 3 and it sounds to me like they are all about the same. Likely it comes down to personal preference or small differences at that point. All make good trucks that will do more work than most people will ever ask of them.

Road hunting is illegal in most states and unethical to boot!

Relax dude. It an internet forum where anyone can say what they want. Not worth getting worked up about.

Do you really believe that a truck with 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque can't tow anything?

Here is a review on the towing.
2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Review: Towing and MPG Fuel Economy

Amazing how you guys can derail a thread simply to further your agenda of bashing other brands like the eco diesel and making up all kinds of stories about your eco boots engines when the thread is supposed to be about 3/4 ton pickups and fuel economy.

So according to your statements in this thread the eco diesel dodge tows less than mid size SUV's but the eco boost ford will pull better then a 1 ton dually with a diesel. Do you not see how ridiculous you guy act? it's obvious to the rest of us.

How many times have you pointed out which auto companies took money from the government? Seriously do you think it's over 100 times?

The act is worn out.
This post breaks my heart roadhunter. You and diamondpilot were very much together on your earlier post not to tee my airbags together and now this rant. Can,t we all just get along?LOL

Just trying to keep the thread on topic. Every truck thread seem to derail into eco boost stroking and eco diesel bashing even if the topic, like this one, have nothing to do with 1/2 ton trucks.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If you think I'm wrong please feel free to go find the thread and tell us all how much better it is to have a tee on your air bag setup. Several other people including the engineer who recently posted in the thread will be happy to tell you if that is the correct way to install them.

So do you want to get back to the OP or are you just going to talk about me some more? Do you have a 3/4 ton pickup? What kind of mileage does it get?

33 mpg at 70 going uphill with a headwind and 1000 pounds in the bed.
2014 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel Heads West - CleanMPG Forums

Pretty neat article- I especially liked the display showing a 43.1 mpg average and the range of 865 miles it does say that average was after running 196 miles. 1700 miles to go- and after completing the trip 41+ mpg that IS IMPRESSIVE... maybe the eco diesel will not legally tow 9000lbs. but it can hyper mile with some of the best...

Where can I find this thread on airbags? I have mine T'd together for pressure equalization and ease of adjusting overall pressure. What am I missing?

Hey guys, appreciate all the comments.

To the guy who asked why a truck given I tow only 15% of time...

That's max towing, not hauling. Need 4x4 truck to reach my ranch house and my dad's mountain cabin in NM. I haul a lot of supplies and feed so need 1k payload. Finally, just prefer a truck. Had my current one since '99 and it's kinda hard to give up an old beat up truck dents and west texas pinstriping (mesquites) and all...

But my daily job requires 62 mile commute. My wife drives a 4x4 suburban and we have a 2dr hard top convertable car that just sits in the garage and put maybe 4k miles on it a year but I just prefer driving a truck.

I know many will say why do I even worry about 5-10mpg but I'm still a cheapskate by nature.

Thanks for all the comments. Keep em coming.
