Comparison m7060 or 5085e

Yes I have sat in them. Both have same rear tires, JD is 84 inches wide, Kubota is 74. Kubota 64 PTO HP, JD ,70 PTO HP. Same hyd flow rate...not really sure they are two different class machines besides one is all Japan, one is China/India, one is wider with 2000 more lbs. I plan on the 7060 with cast rear centers if I go that route, not really worried about weight so much as you can always add. Thanks for the feed back so far guys.

Also forgot to mention, kubnota is 6 gears, 2 ranges, while JD is 4x3. I'd rather have the 6 gears based on my limited experience, but it isn't a deal breaker.

The heavier tractor will always have the capability of being heavier than the light tractor. You can add that same weight that you would add to the light machine to the already heavy tractor and get it that much heavier. Trust me, weight does make a difference. I had to ballast my 75hp tractor to 12,000lbs to get the absolute maximum performance from it. Transmissions are different combinations, not that big of a deal.

I think that a better comparison would be the M7060 and a 5075M or an M8560 and a 5085M. That way you are comparing deluxe models, deluxe to economy is what you are doing now. The JD M models have enough gears also. 12 gears is not enough for this size tractor in my opinion, I have one, I know. But then I suppose it all depends on what you are using the tractor for.

Good luck. ;)

I guess you and roadbuilder6 don't quite agree. That is exactly was scares me about the green one.

From what I have read, the 2014 e series tractors are quite an improvement from the earlier models.

I looked at those same class tractors and went with the blue one. Mnt View is right, 12 speeds aren't enough. It has the features of the Deere M class and priced liked an E. You don't NEED 40f and 20r speeds and electronic hi/lo but it sure makes doing whatever you want to do just right.

Good luck in your search!

These are 2 different class machines. The JD is 2600lbs heavier let alone all the additional HP.

Good luck. ;)

All that additional HP? JD has 70 pto hp,Kubota has 64 pto hp.

The m series are 10k more..... 12 gears is probably enough for me. Mowing and food plots is her primary job. Who bought one of these machines and got rid of it?

The Kubota has external 3 point cylinders. I suppose that's good since the at tractors have them. Easier service?

Ok, I should have said additional HP regarding the PTO, after all it is only 9% more. Sorry :sorry:

So you figure that 20% more engine HP getting to the ground makes little difference? Which tractor would pull the other one backwards assuming hitching together at the draw bar with 20' between them. My money would be on the Deere because of weight and horse power.

As I said before, they are both nice tractors, they are not the same though. The Kubota M model is a deluxe tractor while the JD e tractor that he is looking at is an economy model. If he really wants to save some money, and the Kubota will do the job, then maybe he should look at a 5075e. I'm sure that is much closer to the Kubota spec wise and for sure much less $$$$. I doubt that it is as nice comfort wise though. :(

To bushhog28, it sounds to me like you want the Kubota, 3 grand is nothing in this size machine, get what you want and don't second guess yourself. If the M7060 has what it takes to get your work done, get it and get your work done in full comfort.

Just my :2cents:

Spoke with a dealer that sells both...his words...

The 5085e JD is more HP then the M7060 Kubota. We sell more JD's and have good results with them. The quality of both tractors would be equal. The JD is 15 more HP and physical size is larger and heavier.

I understand, and the JD is more tractor and will get more work done quicker. My observation and maybe it was wrong, was-is that you prefer the Kubota for various reasons. This is just the feeling I have reading your posts. It seems like your biggest concerns were the $3000 additional cost and the float function rear remotes. Well they have the float function available and $3000 is next to nothing in this large of a purchase where you will be on the machine for hours and hours. It's not like you are jumping in a little puddle jumper and driving to work for 15 minutes. There will be times when you will be in the seat for a better part of the day. Might as well be as comfortable as you can be while your there. If you want to save more $$$$, why not consider a JD 5075e. I'm sure that you can get it for a lot more than $3000 less than the Kubota.

Just my take on things, you're the one paying the bill, do what you feel suits you the best. You are the only one that knows what that is. We are all only guessing and giving advise based on our experience. :confused3:

One last thing, if there is an LS dealer within a days driving distance, you ought to at least go and take a look at one, that is if they have a P model in stock. Pretty nice machines for less money, and I know that you want to save money.

Good luck. ;)

Once you get to this size tractor and this much money, you should get a tractor that will fit your needs now and in the future. You're right, very few people do trade them in, they just learn to live with the shortcomings.

The two main uses you state, food plots and mowing are where more gears are a great feature. Running ground engaging equipment and mowers with plenty of gears can be downright fun as opposed to too fast or aggravatingly slow. Also on the M series Deere and the LS P series you have electronic hi/lo which gives you an extra gear at the push of the button when things bog down.

You should also get at least a 540/750 PTO which is great for mowing with the bigger tractors. Mine has the 540/750/1000 and ground driven feature so I can run anything.

You can get'er done with any of those tractors, for sure. But if you get the 12 speed I guarantee you will be wishing for higher or lower speeds. Not enough to trade it in but you will say to yourself at least, "If I had it to do over again...."
