Why the switch to Deere?
Anything you are not happy with your Kubota?
If so what and how does Deere address this
Thanks

Oh boy another long-winded post by WaxMan!!!
Just about everything I have done, said or thought is documented here on TBN so it may not come as a surprise to some.
There is only one thing I don't like about my Kubota. That one thing is the SIZE. Not sure if you would remember, but if you do remember these pictures, I wanted the smaller size to begin with, I bought the 3240 with the smaller tires because I wanted the famous Grand L cab but in a smaller size tractor - these smaller tires sold me on the tractor. The tractor was delivered with the smaller tires as pictured.
This first picture shows my 3240 with the smaller tires compared to a
B2650 the same size as my
B3030 was. That is how I bought it. Look at it - they almost look the same size.
When it was delivered the guy had a hard time unloading because of the smaller tires with the backhoe on.
You can see the difference in the second picture. It looks like two different tractors, but it's all in the tires. So I settled with the larger tires because I didn't want problems loading and unloading, My wife hates the size especially when helping her in the flower garden. We like to use the bucket to spread mulch and remove the weeds. Yes I flatted a couple of things but would have happened with either tractor.
The JD is one frame size smaller and also has a quality cab. I always liked the JD cab. I don't think it's as well built as the Kubota, but I like the cab. It's small just for the operator. What I didn't like was the JD backhoe seems like a toy compared to the Kubota BH92. At the time I bought it wanted a backhoe also. The controls, the arms, the stabilizers - everything just seemed like a toy on the John Deere 375 or 475 backhoe. The Kubota backhoe is a real usable size backhoe very well built and with the hydraulic thumb just makes it so much more desirable.
My wife and I were talking last weekend and I decided I don't really need a $13,000 backhoe anymore. Thats what it costs with the hydraulic thumb the mounts and the controls for the thumb if you were to buy it new. I still owe $14,000 on the tractor. The backhoe is great, the thumb is great - I just don't see using it that much anymore to justify continuing paying that kind of money if it's just going to sit.
So if I don't need the backhoe and I can get a smaller size cab without a backhoe, the JD Cab would be my choice.
As for all the Mods and work I did well, I had fun making them and can make them again and I will. So if I can get the smaller cab of my choice end the 14,000 payment (or most of it) and loose the backhoe it just might work out better.
Yes I know I will find many things after not having the backhoe and will regret selling it, but the way I look at it now, I didn't pay for it yet. So If I end up missing a backhoe and cant live without one I'll buy one then.
As you know I like making things for the tractor, I like making it custom for me. Waxing it, keeping it clean, a smaller size tractor would make it that much easier all around. The main use for the tractor now is plowing the snow in the winter and working around the yard and garden. I need a cab. I would not even have a tractor without a cab. I want a tractor for life. I took care of the 3240 as if I were keeping it for life. But it was too big from day one. The Grand L cab is great, quiet, smooth, comfortable, all the power I need, I love the throttle advance and all the features the transmission has. I like all the options I put in it. But it's a beast for my needs. You need this size tractor for a BH92 backhoe without the need of the backhoe I don't need this size tractor.
If selling doesn't work out, I still have undeniably one of the nicest, cleanest, tractors I have ever seen and will live with it.
If I sell it, I will make everything I made for this tractor on the next tractor - it will just be smaller and without the nicest backhoe setup I have ever seen. Hands down the BH92 is better than anything Deere or Woods makes IMO in this size. Not having that hydraulic thumb will be hard to take.
Yes I will loose some money spent but again if its for life, my life. Another option would be selling the backhoe and getting the smaller tires, but then I believe I would really regret selling the backhoe.
I hope all this makes sense.
