I've been using my new tractor for about a month and have about 20 hours on it. Everything is fine with the tractor itself but an issue has come up with the BH.

The BH was fine until yesterday when it started making a whistling wssssshhh sound thru the hydraulics. It's particularly loud when swinging the boom left-right or raising or lowering the main boom arm. In other words whenever the left joy stick is used it akes the loud sound. It doesn't seem to have the power it should either.

It is slightly audible when using the right stick but is not consistent. The noise comes and goes.

It sounds like a relief valve is partially hung up. Is there a valve for each stick/motion or just one for the whole hydraulic system on the hoe?

I disconnected the hose connections from the tractor and after I reconnected the lines, I 'exercised' the all the cylinders , but it made no difference.

If it's not something easy to do, it will have to go back to the dealer, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Any idea what it could be?

Do you have a knobie on the hoe control panel to slow down the swing..?? [ my 595 hoe has one ]. You could check if that valve got turned down some.... Don't know much about your setup, but if you have to lock a hyd lever to get power full time to the hoe, you might check that it is being fully held to open up the flow. I think my 595 has an inline pressure valve in one of the hoses that hook up to the tractor.... maybe a filter, too.... [ ??? ] Good luck, and if you find out what it is, please pass on the knowledge...!! :)

My BH has a lever in the cab to allow me to reverse the flow or, in the neutral position, cut the flow entirely. Is it possible you have the same, and the lever is in the wrong position? :confused3:

I have a knob to control the flow to the 3pt but I'm not aware of anything for the BH, but I'll look.

I'm assuming the BH hydraulics connect via remote quick disconnects. If so, there must be a lever to disconnect the pressure to the QD fittings, otherwise you would never get the lines reconnected.

Dunno about the lever, but it does have the qd's. Today I disconnected them forthe first time after I shut off the engine, and worked the control levers...had no issues disconecting. Then I reconnected with no issues even after running the tractor first.

Is it possible that you reversed the lines when you reconnected them?

No, the problem existed before I disconnected them for the very first time since I got the machine. The problem started after about a half dozen times of use after I got it new. The problem did not exist when I first got it. I didn't disconnect it until the issue arose. I'e read where sometimes disconnecting and then reconnecting is the first thing to try when hydro problems arise.

Read the distructions for your hoe and tractor, could be something simple (on mine the 3-point lever has *got* to be all the way down or, according to the manual, damage may occur).

Another thing to check is the fluid level, strange things can happen when the hydraulic levels are low.
