As the sun dips behind the Pine Nut mountains to the west, the shadow sweeps the valley and up the east range. The high desert is alive at the end of the day. In winter, when the sun dips, the cold sets in and it's time to quit, get the fire started. Summer, it's time to enjoy the evening performance of the traveling shadow. A few deer wander by, rabbits scamper and the coyotes start their song.
There's a satisfaction in being tired. At last light I'm reviewing the day with a faint smile. Later still, I'm out for a moment with the dog and a quick look at the stars. Nice to be here.
Dang, John, that is downright poetic! Sounds to me like the opening of a Great American Novel, or at least a great short story in there somewhere waiting to get out!
Thanks. The beauty is inspiring. The evening performance and the Milky way both. The coyotes always make perk up and think of our coyote friend, Sandy. Have you read Sandy's story?
Actually, no I hadn't, until you mentioned it and I looked it up today. I've read the entire thread and it's a wonderful story. Well done! Looking forward to the book, if you're able to get to it. Can I recognize literary talent, or what!![]()
