Picked up a pair of LL Bean Katahdin Iron Worksョ Engineer Boots, Plain-Toe in cordovan leather. They're handcrafted in the USA of American materials by Chippewa. They're regularly $220, but got them for $149.00 at the LL Bean Outlet. Real nice and comfortable. I've always had Red Wings, but figured I'd try them, can't beat LL Bean guarantee.

Lucky you-every time I go into that location, I find nothing but crap that was unloaded from a shipping container!

I pop into the outlet whenever I go by, it's hit or miss, but I've gotten some stellar deals over the last several years. A couple years back I bought a $350.00 pair of waders with built in lace up boots for $75.00.

I wanted a good pair of 10" lace up boots....so I bought a used pair of Danner Elk Hunters off ebay "made in Portland Oregon"...they fit me perfect and were like new. I also have bought jeans from this place:
Jeans and Shorts Made in USA by the All American Clothing Co

Good quality and not much more than new Levi's which are no longer made here.

Stopped in at the LL Bean Outlet today. Picked up a pair of 12" LL Bean 100th Anniversary "Maine Hunting Shoes". I've always wanted a pair and couldn't pass on the deal. Regularly $139.00, marked down to $109.00 and 20% off. Grabbed em for $87.20. USA made in Maine. They sure are comfortable! Gonna treat them with Sno Seal as recommended.

.........and that darn Chinese leaded medication is known to cause poor grammar, misspellings, a general lack of making sense and general disorientation.

Nope, you can thank all the over paid UNION teachers for poor grammar, misspellings. You know the same useless UNION moron workers who get paid to do nothing at General Motors, Post Office, Every School in the USA. Ya the same Pervert teachers the Unions force school districts to keep on staff. They don't get paid to teach, they just get paid to fake test scores across the Country. That's why our students rank ........"In mathematics, 29 nations and other jurisdictions outperformed the United States by a statistically significant margin.
The top overall scores came from Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Macao and Japan, followed by Lichtenstein, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Estonia.
YEP let's be proud of our UNION TEACHERS.

Where did we rank, the U.S. was slotted between the Slovak Republic and Lithuania in the overall results, two spots behind Russia.

Come on boys tell me again HOW proud you are of the amazing UNION workers. Let's see how much stupidity ( did i spell that correctly? ) we can garner for the worst education ranking ON THE ENTIRE PLANET .

WOOT WOOT - cmon show me some fist pumps boys.

Thank you for your wonderful breakdown on the world according to cat driver. My boots are in fact made in USA and thus on topic for this thread. I like them. You sound like you have some deeply rooted personal issues and inner "internet" anger that has yet to subside. If that vent session is going to help you sleep well now, I'm glad we could be of service.

good luck with the boots-mine are roughly 25-30 years old. Wear them typically in "snow melt" season when the Red Wings get soggy. Sad to say the only other Bean "Made in US" products I have area bunch of faded flannel/cotton shirts. My wife told me this morning that Martha Stewartn has announced a "Made in USA" line of goods. Glad to hear it.

Bean should do the same thing instead of flying people all over the world to monitor sweat shops. I saw the Portland paper article. Guess what- IMO the next "low cost producers" will be the African S-hole countries. It is a never ending cycle. The Mexicans undercut the US- the Chinese undercut the Mexicans, the Vietnamese undercut the Chinese etc etc.

I'm convinced a business could succeed in this country by advertising "US/Euro Goods Only"
We will see what Martha does- I bought her stock when she got out of the can-thought it would take off-boy was that a bad move!
