I've bought two tractors from Barlow's. I dealt with Brady - but you just cant beat their prices. Even if you include several hundred miles of delivery. Also, sometimes buying out of state and having it delivered can save you a lot in taxes.

Keefer

In most states, this is not true. While out of state dealers don't collect taxes, that doesn't mean that you're not liable for them.

You didn't read his statement or at least not correctly. He said CAN which is true, it CAN save money.
Most dealers don't collect (Barlows doesn't) state sales tax on sales out of state just like most internet purchases are taxed by each state and it's on most if not all state tax forms for states that have state sales tax to provide the dollar amount of out of state (internet) purchases so state sales tax can be collected. Sure everyone does that.
Many years ago I was a Ky State Auditor and then and I'm sure now there are no methods other than possibly lien recordings in home state filed at State Capital to "trip" a bill.
If one accidently/on purpose goes over the speed limit I'm sure they will turn themselves in for the violation of State laws. If one makes a mistake on filing their Federal and State taxes in can be caught if they happen to be the one in 100,000 citizens that gets audited and then the "mistake" is discovered and possibly made to pay the unpaid tax plus maybe even a slight percent penalty.

Mr. JohnThomas covered the out of state purchase tax situation perfectly! I think I once read that less than one percent of applicable purchases, into Maryland, are reported. I would add that if one finds oneself speeding on a Federal Interstate highway, self-reporting the violation to the Fed. government is more trouble than it's worth. Or so I have been told. No personal experience.

My wife accidentally ran through the easy pass lane on the NY State Throughway on a Friday. She was frantic all weekend. She called Monday and they told her if and only if she got a bill in the mail was she to pay. They told her not to send any payment in even though she offered. They said it would cost way more to process her payment ''by hand'' than it was worth. They also stated she would probably not get a bill in the mail as they also found many folks don't pay and
It ends up costing the state more money to collect than the bill.

PS I always pay 6% Ky State sales tax on my tractor purchases from Barlows because I won't sign a form stating I'm buying my Kubota for Agricultural purposes.
If I lived in another state I would probably still buy from Barlows and believe I would save money because I would NOT try and track down how to pay the state sales tax but since I live in Ky and buy in Ky the state makes it real easy for me to pay the taxes, Barlows collects it for them and then sends it to whomever he sends it to.:)
Now I do save hundreds of dollars on State sales tax by some times trading in a tractor to Barlows. The trade in value (dollar amount) is subtracted from the sell price (dollar amount) and I pay 6% Ky state sales tax on that dollar amount (the difference) when/if I'm paying a difference but I don't collect the 6% from Barlows when he's paying me the difference but he would be tax exempt anyway since he buys to resale and has the exempt form .
This brings up the sell it yourself vs trade to a dealer method of trading/buying. If I were buying and were having to pay at Barlows or any Ky dealer $700 in Ky state sales tax on my purchase then I would have to get $700 more from the tire kicker that finally agreed to buy my used equipment than what Barlows gives me for trade in price. I have sold a couple of my used Kubotas but usually I trade them in to Barlows and he has given me a more than decent trade in price. This, I believe, has saved me hundreds of dollars and allowed me to trade tractors without any great loss. Sure, it costs some money to use a tractor for a year or 2 or 3 and then trade or sell it but not a great amount of dollars. I usually expect to pay for using something for awhile. I also want something handy and something that is sized to fit most of my current needs. I have went up in size and down in size and even back up when life situations change and they do or have for me over most of my life.

Dealers sometimes get new Kubotas delivered to them from other dealers for whatever reasons. The new machines belong to Kubota until they are sold so Kubota makes some of the decisions of where their machines are moved to/come from between dealers.

FYI. Not true. They don't do this.

JohnThomas, I will say this, no dealer was very close the price that Steve gave me. Steve didn't screw around either, he gave me his best price. Other dealers want to go back and forth. I don't like playing that game. I still cannot believe the great price that Steve gave me. Steve said it would take about 2 weeks for me to get the machine. What are your thoughts on that? I'm in Pa, so they have to deliver it. I would like to get it sooner of course since I can't wait, :) but is 2 weeks pretty standard? He said he located the machine at another dealer, so he did his work on his end.

I have purchased three machines from Barlow's and it does take a couple weeks or more sometimes as they like to ship more than one tractor on a load. Basically have a full trailer.

Would this cover Harvest Returns???

We bought a Harvest Return through are closest Dealer about 50 miles away.

At first contact he said he did not have any to sell and was not expecting any for the rest of the year... several weeks later we got a call to say they had located one if we were still interested...

It had 111 hours on it with full warranty and we have been very happy with it.

I purchased my L4740 and ZD326 from Messick's, Barlows couldn't come close to Messick's deliver price. Both pieces of equipment were delivered over 200 miles and not one problem. I purchase all my filters and parts from Messick's Parts department, excellent service, quick shipping.

They may not do this for you but I've seen new 0 hours older Kubotas at Barlows and he told me they had been sent to him from other dealers that could not sell them. Guess Kubota has confidence in his selling abilities or maybe he cuts his profit enough to make the sells. Maybe the dealers couldn't sell them or whatever and maybe you don't know everything.:D I know you told me to not buy a new F because a new model was coming out in a couple of months and over a year later it hadn't came out and when it did there were no changes. Like I said, maybe you aren't informed like the southern dealers.:D:laughing:
