No issue in Australia, they come standard with the dual port muffler and high output oiler so no mods required. I almost went for the 880 but the weight was my worry. I would like to get an old 090 for the mill though.

Yes the 088 is heavy, I only bought it because it was almost like new, came with those two boxes, blade, chain, tools, manuals and a 36" Alaskan Mark III for $450.

I had a Shindaiwa 416 16" bar that I thought was unstoppable. 3 tornados, 1 hurricane 30 different trees felled, never failed to start. Loved that machine. 15+ years on I guess everything has its lifespan. I went for the Stihl MS211CBE (35.2cc) smaller displacement than my 416 (39CC), thinking more efficient and higher tech the smaller displacement wouldn't hurt. Wrong. I am sure the 211 is OK for limbing and small clean up not for me. I took advantage of the 7 day love it or trade it in offer from my Stihl dealer and moved up to the 251CBE (45.6 cc). It just barely matches my old Shindiawa, but I am pleased. The Easy start is VERY nice. The Quick Adjust also is very nice. I agree that the Oiler is very stingy with oil usage. Overall pleased with the Stihl MS251CBE.

Unbelevable price....wow you couldn't pass that up. Really a perfect saw for the mill!

Guys it's funny like that, when you have something for a long time and it's never let you down you get attached to it.. My MS 390 is almost 12 years old and done a lot of work, I couldn't say how many chains I've worn out... Heaps but it just keeps on firing, I'm going to get her rebored soon and clean her up...she deserves to have some money spent on her. Very happy for a mid range saw though.

Seven Stihls, see my signature below, all are excellent for different tasks. Favorite are the lighter saws now that I'm older and wiser.:thumbsup:
The 200T arborist saw and the MS180C & MS230 are getting most use recently. My old 015L was stolen years ago. It was a great saw for what it was, and I miss having it round out my collection.

This last winter I bought a Shindaiwa 488. It's a 48cc pro saw. Paid $60 and it included 3 new chains and a gallon of bar oil. I had been in the market for a ms 260, but for the money I got the Shindaiwa. It's been awesome!! Starts every time, nice power for its size, and quite a bit lighter than the Stihls.

Not a lot of Shindaiwas around , here I came close to buying one a few years back but the timing wasn't right. Pricing over here makes it hard almost everything is considerably dearer. I've used the 440 and it's a beast, if I wasn't doing some milling I would have gone that or the 460. The 660 is the ducks guts though, best saw I've ever laid hands on. For $60 bucks you couldn't have gone wrong though, you would spend more than that over here on just the 3 new chains you got with it.
