Tractor
Yanmar 2210D
Hello, I am brand new to this site as a member but I have read a lot about Yanmar tractors here before registering. I looked at VN tractors here in Texas and I noticed some details that made me concerned. I'll bet they are o.k. but I'll pass. Some superficial issues regarding decals and minor components such as seat/muffler design, etc. make me somewhat worried about things I can't see on those tractors. I have been in contact with Tom at Fredricks. I am "pulling the trigger" on a 2210d from Fredricks. Even shipping to Texas makes the tractor competitively priced to the VN unit. I have some final details to work out with Fredricks and I will be ordering soon. I am busy as a teacher and a part time ranch operator, but I want to share my future experiences with ya'll to hopefully contribute to the knowledge base available here. Thanks and I am glad to be here. If my deal with Fredricks goes through, I will keep in touch.

Welcome ! Best of luck with your deal. The Yanmar tractors are well built and tough tractors.

:welcome: Welcome to the site... You won't find a better YM series Yanmar tractor than a Fredricks tractor.. If you spoke with Tom, You spoke to the owner

Welcome to the forum. I notice VN tractors no longer even mentions the Yanmar name on their internet sight since the law suits. Are you saying they are still selling the Yanmars? I do see some listed on Craigs list and suspicion they are from VN and also notice they never use the word "Yanmar" in their listings. They will put model and horse power ratings but no name. They must be trying to get rid of their inventory. Interested to hear your report.

Thanks for everyone's welcome. Yes, the VN tractors I looked at had a sticker on the cowling that said "YNM TRACTOR". They had a bunch of them and I suspect they are o.k., but they are absolutely no cheaper than a shipped to Texas, Fredricks Yanmar. Very similarly priced. I am not getting an FEL, but I am getting a lightweight rotary cutter with the tractor. VN did not have tractors w/out FEL. I would love a FEL, but cannot justify the $ right now. Next year maybe.

I took delivery of a Fredricks YM2610 early this year. Been busy with it ever since. The ROPS being strong and foldable, the totally refub, and the 1yr warranty got me hooked. Fredricks makes trips from AL to KY via I-65 often enough that it was simple to jump aboard to order.

With the YM2210D come with a 2T80 or 2T90 engine? Post your answer when it arrives. :)

yea i thought that no one but fredricks and his wholesale customers could sell used grey Yanmars? maybe the YNR tractors is a way around it but it still is a yanmar weather you call it that or not seems like a legal issue that they can get called on. I did notice a few weeks ago thier site no longer mentions yanmar or lists them...but you say locally they still sell them?

I mean no disrespect to the members here that own a vn tractor... But,The tractor you're getting from Fredricks is waaaaaaaaay better built than a yanmar from that place. There's a lot more to compare than just price. I'm talking about the quality of the build / recondition process...He does a lot more to the tractors now, than he did when I bought my tractor. They didn't even have the ROPS out of the testing phase when I bought.

clemsonfor, that is right. I looked at some several days ago in Mesquite TX. They looked o.k. and were labeled as I described. I studied the fire out of these and even read the lawsuit some. I went to see them because I could see one in the background of a Mitsubishi CL add. Sure enough, Yanmar tractors and they have many. All have a hood sticker that says model # and "YNM Tractor". They probably had 4-5 2210d models with the V2 loaders. I do not see many recent complaints about these and I looked some on web. I guess they sell them to small tractor shops around the country. The quality was no where near fredricks' and that would be fine if they were $1500 or so cheaper but they are not. They wanted $8500 for fel 2210d. Fredricks 2210d model would be about $9700 with Koyker FEL. Mine with rotary mower is on the way for about $2k less than Fredricks FEL deal including shipping 700 miles to Texas. I'll add FEL later. They are not cheap like years before as I understand but I am not concerned. I feel good about my purchase and can't wait to get it.[couple of weeks out]

When looking for a tractor, I dug around the region, only to find worn and fatigued equipment needing some sort of fixing from one degree to others. A retired frined of mine had gotten a used John Deere 850 for some work business he did. Well, he already had two other tractors, thus I got the JD850. It was rebuilt wrong and didn't even run right. The engine blew up (no fault of any Yanmar quality, just the no so smart rebuild mechanic) I had then taken the JD850 to my local diesel place. After 1-week, the heads were cleaned and inspected and also the block. Both were ruined. I had then started looking for a replacement engine within 300 miles. In time I found Fredricks. It would cost about $5,400 to just get a running engine on the JD850 ... or spend $300 more and get the YM2610 with PowerShift. Later I found out that the JD850 hydralics were shot too. Well, the JD850 was taken as a trade in for the YM2610. In the long run, I got a great tractor at a good market price and Fredricks rebuilt the JD850 from the ground up like new. I got the photos too. All in 2 weeks! My YM2610 is the same as the JD850 with the addition of the PowerShift. So, I didn't loose anything, just gained some more.

I bought the YM2610 off the delivery trailer. It wasn't until this summer I had visited the Fredricks operations. AMAZING! Bobby and Tom really have that place tidy, neat and clean. It is very well organized with sea containers unloaded a few times per week and then categorized accordingly. The body tear down, grind and repair has some great guys making things right ans very smooth. The engine rebuilders have all the spec sheets and blue print diagrams to restore from top quality new parts like rings, pistons cranks, etc. The paint center has booths and stands with stocked colors ready at the finger tips. The frame and crankcase people flush and calibrate the cases prior to painting. New filters, hoses, radiators, water pumps, belts, etc all get placed too.

Each tractor is reviewed and rechecked down a final build sheet and signed off all along the way. Fredricks has true southern pride even in the era we live in today.

Would I get another Gray Market tractor again? ONLY if it was done by Fredricks.

Yes, I would have liked a FELs too, but like all things, money is needed.

Fredricks still has a several YM2610 machines all done and ready to go. It's a good step up from the YM2210. It's also the right range for running hay equipment at the 28Hp to 40Hp implements.
