Found the quart today at a door we do not normally use so it came fast. Not sure at $0.16 per gallon to treat if it will be worth it but does work for gas or diesel and I wanted to try it since we got a gallon of AR9100 to treat engines but so not have any engines with stiction issues which is a common reason people by it.

I know the name of the product, but not much about it.

If the Bell Labs connection is true, I'd consider the product for that reason alone.

Yup - up north, biodiesel gels quicker. Minnesota mandates blending 10% bio until October. Truckers complained about excessive gelling last winter (colder than normal) despite fuel line heaters.

Biodiesel also biodegrades quickly. Gotta turn it over quick, not good for storage even with biocides.

Other than that, I like biodiesel. Seems like a net energy positive, unlike ethanol. And increases lubricity as demonstrated by the Spicer test.

It is getting cold already up here - switched to winter additive OptiLube XPD. brrr!

Some people like taking vitamins for themselves and pouring exotic elixirs in to their machinery. It's some kind of thinking where it's an easy no effort way to obtain great gains with little expense. Pop this pill and grow big muscles fast and look like Arnold Schwarzenegger
The only potions, witchcraft and sorcery to pour into a machine is. A oil seal swelling for old high hour equipment. IPA to absorb water from fuel. And waterglass to limp a machine leaking coolant back to the shop.

Some people buy vehicles with high pressure diesel fuel pumps proven to fail with the low quality diesel fuel found in the US, Bosch - Why Diesel Fuel Injectors Fail - Diesel Power Magazine Page 2 lays it out.

Some people have poor eyesight and live with it. Other may wear glasses.

+1

Even with small diesel engines like ours that don't have High Pressure Common Rail fuel injection, fuel quality & stability is still important. I don't want to find my machine going down unexpectedly with clogged injectors due to crappy U.S. diesel fuel quality. Including biodiesel instability.

Anybody that's ever priced an injector/pump overhaul knows this.

After the first few months of ULSD ruining a few pumps. There has been a lub additive for the past 6+ years.

Do you have any reference that shows all highway diesel in the US meets the European standard of scar diameter of 460 μm rather than the US standard of 520 microns?

And if it's been going on for 6 years why was it written 4 years ago:
Diesel fuel sold in the United States should have a maximum wear scar of 520 microns on the HFRR test. In 2009, Bosch issued a joint manufacturers statement that stated:
"It is essential that the lubricity of the fuel as measured by the HFRR test specified in ISO 12156-1 meets the requirement of a wear scar diameter not greater than 460 microns. In addition, it is recommended by the Diesel FIE manufacturers, that åirst fill of the fuel tank should be with fuel with good lubricity characteristics (HFRR < 400 μm) in order to guarantee good 途un-in of the injection system components. The US diesel specification (ASTM D 975-09) includes a lubricity value of 520 μm maximum (according to ASTM D 6079). It is expected that the useful operating lifetime of any mechanical component will be adversely affected by fuel with a lubricity exceeding 460 microns."

Looks like the Americans have fallen behind the rest of the world again.this time with fuel lube.

The Engine Manufacturers Association wanted the smaller spec, for the obvious reasons.

Big Oil has more and better lobbyists in Washington than the EMA, so you are stuck with 520u in the USA.

Dave that was my though as well. I will try to add the AR6200 to a lot of tanks this week but the fall rains have started so working in the dirt is hit and miss.

I haven't spent any money on fuel lubrication products. So far I haven't experienced any pump/injector failures. I might be flirting with death, who knows!! We have equipment and pickups from the 1970's to new this year. In forty years, our only fuel related problems were caused by water.
