Re: Bush Hogging HOW-TO VIDEO With THE ETA 60" BRUSH CUTTER & Our New Video Tractor!!

Good video. I recently purchased this cutter and used it one time to cut a sloped field (approx. 1 1/2acres) of 3-4ft high grass/weeds. The cutter worked great and there were no issues. I will post some pictures and more detail in the near future. I do have a question on this video. Before I purchased the cutter I watched the video EA had posted on their website and I thought that the lower holes on the 3pt lift brackets were for smaller tractors and the upper holes were for larger tractors. This video says the opposite. Anyway, the unit came shipped with the A-frame connected to the upper holes on the bracket. I have a Kubota B3030 and when I connected the top link to the swivel link on the cutter, I had to extend the top link almost as far as it would go in order to give the swivel a little play. Then I remembered the video from your site saying you could connect the A-frame to the lower holes if you have a smaller tractor. Well, I moved the frame to the lower holes and with that connection my top link was not as extended and I had some play in the swivel. This setup did not require my top link to be as extended as it was when the A-frame was attached to the upper holes. I used the cutter in this position and did not seem to have any problems but maybe I missed something when watching these videos. Can someone from EA or the forum shed some light on this setup.

thanks

Nowadays, Cat 1 tractors have a pretty broad range of frame sizes, so making the hitch adjustable enables you to set it up best for your tractor.
It sounds like you have it figured out. You'll want the swivel close to vertical on flat ground so it has the ability to move forward and back to follow the land.
We'd love to see pics of it mounted on your tractor!

I will post some pictures of my tractor with the implement attached and the landscape of my first project using the cutter. As I said in my original post, I did not have any issues using the cutter and it did a great job cutting the high grass/weeds. They were a little thicker than the pictures indicate but at no time did the cutter bog down. Also, my B3030 handled the cutter just fine even though the area is sloped (probably about 10% grade). When you state in your response that the clevis swivel should be close to vertical when attached on flat ground, my clevis was in a downward position but not really close to vertical. I watched a video on the internet about attaching a cutter to a 3pt hitch and they said the clevis swivel should be in a slightly downward position with a little play in the top link. That is about how mine is setup. With the A-frame connected to the lower holes on the lift arm brackets I can extend my upper link a little more if necessary to get the clevis closer to vertical if I should have more play. I can work the clevis back & forth maybe 1/2 - 1". Is that enough play? This leads me to my original post, if I mounted my top link to the A-frame attached to the upper holes on th lift arm brackets, i would have to extend my top link out almost all the way and I still would not be able to get any play in the swivel. Anyway, as soon as i get some time i will post pictures and see waht you think.
Thanks for your response.

Actually, aimed downward and pointed to the tractor some is probably more like it. That is something that you can play with and adjust it so it works best with your tractor and the lay of your land.

Re: Bush Hogging HOW-TO VIDEO With THE ETA 60" BRUSH CUTTER & Our New Video Tractor!!

Here are a couple photos of my cutter. The pictures do not bring out the true slope of the land or the density of the brush but that is probably due to my inexperience as a photographer. The field was no real challange for any cutter really but the slope made things more difficult. You can see how exhausted my helper "Patches" was in the one photo. She slept like a log that night.
