the nearest ls dealer is 80 miles from me. If ls makes the boomer why doesn't ls offer the cvt trans like new Holland does? That is probably why the new Holland is so expensive, the case 40b is the same as the new Holland boomer 3040 also.

It's pretty confusing, but LS only makes some of the New Holland Boomer models...the Boomer 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 50. The other Boomer models are made by Shibaura.

The Case Farmall 40B is not the same as a New Holland Boomer 3040, it's the same as a NH Boomer 40 and LS R4041.

The Farmall B models are made by LS, and the other Farmall models (like the Farmall 40) are made by Shibaura.

Short version is that LS makes/made the Boomers mentioned above, and the Farmall B series. They make the same basic machines, with better loaders under their own name, for much less. In late 2012 I priced an LS R4047H and a Boomer 50 (same machines) and the NH was 10K more and had a weaker loader....crazy.

Don't know. I gave up following the long and winding NH boomer saga. The new NH units I've looked at don't seem as well built in some ways as my 2003 NH TC40. If I were buying a CUT tractor today, Kubota would be my first choice for my needs.

I am going to go to the Kubota dealer here and get a price on one this next week, but they don't have any with a cab. What model would you buy if you bought one?

I would probably be most interested in an L4060 open station, synchronized transmission with the loader package. That would be compatible with my current attachments. The bare tractor only list price is $26K. With the loader + third function and 2 hydraulic remotes the list price is $34K. A cab would sure be nice in winter but I get into the trees too much in the summer. I would keep the TC40 for the backhoe on it mostly.

Sorry I meant the case 40b cvt with the cab is the same as the boomer 3040 at least it looks like it is and all the specs are the same.

What we would buy doesn't help you much, but if you look at something similar to the Kioti NX 4510, you'd be looking at the L4060 Dave mentioned. I just ran the math on an L4060 set up similarly to the NX4510 and the website shows $44,500. You can expect to get something like 10% off that, so you're talking $40K, but you're actually getting less PTO power, less 3pt lift, significantly lower pump flow, and less than half the FEL capacity (to a lower max height) as the Kioti has.

You could also see if the smaller L3560 is comfortable for you...worth checking. It looks like a 3560 set up with normal options would run you something like $37K, so a lot more than the Kioti for a lot less performance, although still enough to get your tasks done.

What???

I would sure give Kioti and LS a good look before getting too serious on the Kubota. I'm not really tractor shopping.

I have a Kioti dealer about 30 miles away. Old family run business but until a couple years ago they were an NH dealer. They do a lot of snowmobile and lawnmower business. None of the three LS dealers in Maine are very close to me. If I had an equipment trailer that would be of less concern. Hauling your tractor to a dealer is not enough of a reason to own a trailer. They are all small, multi-line stores too.

I have two Kubota equipment dealers about the same distance away. One is a large Deere/Kubota outfit with three locations in Maine. The other is a Kubota only 3rd generation family business but I always get the feeling they are slowly fading away. However, their lot is always full of new tractors, excavators, UTV's, implements, etc.

Dealer support is part of my selection process. On the other hand, my 2003 NH with 1900 hours has never been to any dealer or shop since I bought it, with the exception of one visit to a tire shop.

I know what you would buy doesn't help me, it was more curiosity on what model he liked. I have called around and looked at a couple more tractors. There is not a lot of options for cab models around here and my work schedule limits me from traveling further to look and drive others. I have an ls dealer that according to mapquest is 108 miles away, I emailed them and the only cab model they have is an xr 4046hc for $29,900. He said once this one is gone the newer one will $1000 more because of the deal he got on this one. In your guys opinion would it be worth driving that far to look at and possibly buy an ls? The one thing that worries me is if I would have to take it in for any work that is a long way to haul a tractor back and forth for repair. Tractor shopping is kind of driving me nuts, I wish I would have looked earlier in the year when there was more available but my money situation wasn't ready for it at that time.

That is absolutely worth driving for. The LS XR is the deluxe line of their compact tractors and that price seems good. Look around here and you'll see that LS is highly regarded for the specs and features at low price point. I was quoted a R3039 HST OOS for about 25K financed, so that looks good to me.
