Boy, you Canadians double talk. You just said the Internet can't be trusted but you sure did when you bought whatever truck you have. Too funny.

You decided to insult 33 million people because you are having a disagreement with wawajake? Well that should help your credibility.

Within the next few years we will see all OEMs using a flat torque curve. The Germans started this in 2006 and is trickling down to everyone.
Turbos, high pressure fuel injection are the wave.

Driving any brand new vehicle with such a flat torque curve is a breath of fresh air makes our old hot rodded rigs look like pure garbage.

I am considering a 15 Ford pickup to replace an 08 6 liter GM that has 14K on it and only gets 12 MPG. Been a long time since I had a Ford and hope the paint stays on it unlike the 91 we bought new that was junk.

Regards, Fred

I remember those Fords from the late 80's and early 90's with crappy paint. My dad and brother each had one that had to be repainted. The issue was the switchover to more environmentally friendly (or was it lead-free) paint. I've had 5 Fords from '99+ and haven't had a single paint issue.

I watched a few videos on youtube of the new 2.7 ecoboost,it looks like a suprisingly snappy performer,Ive driven several 3.5s and they run great,i bet the new truck with a curb weight of 5-700 lbs less will really turn both eco boost engines into hot rods...I still preffer a V8 in gasoline for my pickup, because i keep them a long time, and the thought of dealing with a snapped manifold bolt or turbo flange bolts on twin turbos buried under the truck after 11yrs of salt on our roads,no thanks....also not into cooling down my gas pickup like my cummins or dmax..

Yes, probably wasn't smart on my part. I like Canada. Spent about a month up there this summer at my company's retreat. Fly employees in and out about 10 times.

Sorry Canada.... well, most of ya Eh? Oh Ya.

No need to cool down the turbos. Shut truck off and walk away. Modern day water cooled turbos are not susceptible to coking like the oil only versions of yesteryear.

As long as we're on the topic of the guys up north, I heard an interesting fact this morning. 90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the US border.

Back to the 2.7... That should make for a great engine in the 2wd regular and super cab trucks too. Very light truck and strong little workhorse.

The 2.7L has more HP and nearly as much torque as the 5.4L from only 4 years ago. I think it will do well in all configurations of the truck...4x4, 2x4, regular, super, and crew cabs.

That's not necessary anymore.

I dont buy it,especially after towing heavy in hot weather, your turbo life will be affected, water cooled turbos or not,its foolish to not let it idle and remove the heat from the exhaust side of the turbo housing.

How many times though do you really tow heavy and then just shut the truck off instantly. I mean, generally you slow down, coast to a stop, pull into a rest area, stop at a gas station, slowly pull into a spot at a restaurant. It's not like you tow wide open to the top of a mountain, slam on the brakes to come to a stop and instantly shut your engine off. Common sense says that just doesn't happen and the few minutes you take to come to a stop is enough to let it cool down.
