Drove the new Ford F150 2.7 Ecoboost

I dont buy it,especially after towing heavy in hot weather, your turbo life will be affected, water cooled turbos or not,its foolish to not let it idle and remove the heat from the exhaust side of the turbo housing.

I suggest you read up on it. Once off the system is designed to thermo-syphon coolant and keep things cool. I was surprised to find that they use plastic pipes and fittings directly connected to the turbo so things aren't that hot on the compressor side or the bearings.

Who cares about the exhaust side, it glows cherry red if your pushing it hard and it is designed for it. I have seen no reports of coked or problems with these turbos. Welcome to the modern world.

Here is an idea- put it in a mid size truck, as well as the EB 4 cylinder. Bring back the Ranger. Great engine for that application. I think the EB 4 cylinder may be a hit with the Mustang. Those who drove it were impressed.

I was thinking along the lines of Raw Dodge- getting harder to abandon the old train of thought and adapt to the new technologies and way of doing things. I was ALWAYS taught, truck or tractor, to cool down the turbo by idling for a couple minutes.

I know you started thread to provide impressions of 2.7L EB test drive (thanks), but say more about why you think the Nissan Titan / Cummins 5.0L V8 is a better package than Ram / Fiat 3.0L V6 and why you are considering for next truck.

Sure, the Cummins engine, but Nissan truck doesn't have a very good rep., does it? I can't think of anybody I know that has a Nissan.

One word.....payload. Ram's payload numbers are declining while everyone else's are increasing. I would consider another Ram 1500 if they improve in this area. Interiors and styling are #1.

I guess I knew about that, and still don't get how/why. The diesel too heavy for the '1/2' ton suspension?

I had a 08 Nissan Titan prior to this truck. In my opinion it's a much tougher truck than the F150 and is on par with its build quality. I loved my Nissan. 97,000 miles and spent $4 on repairs. Towed like a dream. Down side was 14 mpg.

I think the 5l Cummins in it will be on par power and capabilities wise with mid 2000's diesel 3/4 ton trucks.

I love my '12 EB but the mileage is mostly terrible (avg about 16 mpg). I will be interested in the 2.7L as a run-around for my wife as the Super Crew with 6.5' bed is a little bargey in parking lots.

Has Ford figured out how to make a real truck tailgate yet? That's one that I can't stand about my truck is the way the tailgate is designed.

They are already running low 12's with flashed EB's. No other mods except for drag radials.
