Time to trade in the Cummins?

I will never sell my Cummins powered Dodge. It is a long bed club cab and my wife dislikes the length, the ride, the noise, the clutch, and the smell. All pluses to me because she will not drive it! She has a little girly rig, F150 Supercrew with a 5.5 ft. box, and loves it. I never have to worry about readjusting the seat, the mirrors, the radio, etc. We're both happy. I think you will miss having a real pickup.

If the cab corners are now starting to rust now is the time to get rid of it. You should be able to get a new 1/2 ton for around $30,000.

I say keep it and get the rust issues fixed up. Cummins trucks always hold their value so you will still get a good price for it in a few years if you get rid of it. Once the honeymoon phase of that new half ton wears off you'll be wishing for the Cummins.

I agree. If you have a good Cummins engine and the body is decent, why trade it? Sorry, just a Ford man sticking up for common sense. Cummins are good engines, the most important part of a truck.

If the cab corners are rusting now and he has them fixed next year the bed sides will be rusting then the rockers, etc. IMO when a vehicle starts to rust it is time to get rid of it.

Yes, and I'll have to admit, if you're just on a sight seeing trip, it's a pretty nice ride. But it's still not a real pickup.

oliver1555: Yeah but it's kind of like riding in a Prius, it's ok until one of your friends sees you doing it! 445A

Yup. Owned a brand new 2013 Ram 1500 Express. It was really nothing but a 4WD grocery getter with a Hemi. A 350 pound roll of aluminum gutter coil made the thing squat. I hated that truck so much that it was gone after 4 months.
I think my signature shows which brand I favor. But we all have our likes and dislikes. That's why there are different brands to choose from.
