Yep. I have never seen rust fixed that did not come back. Even on $100,000 muscle car builds.

Chris

Yeah I've owned a couple of restored cars and even fairly rust free cars are a battle over time. The truth is just about every car or truck is rust prone to some degree.

That is the truth. I really can see why people buy new vehicles and just keep trading them in.

We have no idea what rust is down here in the south. If your truck was a southern truck its whole life with those miles and such, you'd basically get to call the shots as far as price goes. And you'd get it to, quickly.

DO NOT DO IT .. The worst mistake in my life was trading in my 2004 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a 5.9 3500 for that wanna be truck .. I'm now driving ... Everyday that passes I wish I had my dodge back.. The simple maintaince to the dodge way out weighs the hate I have for my current ride .. No power .. No mileage ... Plenty of of pretty but no comparison .. It's a mistake I live with.

The Cumins without all the emission modifications is a very sought after truck.

Yep had to make a 200 mile round trip today with my 03 3500 4x4 i was smiling the whole way- the mileage on the lie o meter never got below 28 which works out to 23-25 mpg of real world - and yes i have checked full tank hand calced... whats weird is this truck always gets its best mileage in the winter?? winter fuel?-makes no sense.

If you are wanting something newer- i am sure there will be plenty of takers for Dodge Mans non emissions Cummins equipped Ram

Traded in my 2005 1/2 ton chevy on 2012 with 15,000 miles in August. No regrets, still enjoying the newer truck 8,000 miles later.

Looked at 2013 Ram Crew Cab with the blacked out Express package. A Honda dealer had it. Main thing I didn't like was the towing package was after market, and the go fast pedal didn't seem as responsive as I hoped with the Hemi and 3.55 gears.

Dodge Man: Have you driven the new Dodge truck with the new V6 diesel? Super quiet, powerful, and fuel mileage that has been averaging 26 mpg. My friend bought one. It's a 1/2 ton 4x4, and he loves it. 445A

Post a pic of the Dodge you're thinking of trading please.

Here is a couple of photos of it. I've had the front bumper cover repainted and new tires in a slightly larger size put on it about 1000 miles ago.

Very nice looking truck. You should have no problem getting a good amount for it, if you decide to go that route.

Cab corners, the bottom of the tailgate is just barely starting, and I've had the area above the rear wheels fixed, but it's coming back. The truck had the flares on it when I bought it so. I think it will keep the rust over the rear wheels hidden for a few years. The cab corners will need fixed this spring but is fairly inexpensive.

I'm glad I don't live in the rust belt.. That is the same color as my 07. Think I'll keep mine for a while..

Curious what your wife does not like about your truck? My wife really likes our '01 Ram/Cummins; has since we bought it new.

I would keep the Dodge. I think churning vehicles is a waste of money and I don't see any rust. Looks like a nice truck and I am a Ford man saying this. A Cummins is a terrible thing to waste.

The truck looks good Dave.

I respect your decision, but think your will dearly miss that truck. In your first picture you show tractor on a trailer, that scales ~6000 lbs? Not unreasonable to tow with any full size truck. But your truck won't even notice its there. You'll notice in a 1/2 ton.

I'm not sure why she doesn't like it. The smell of a Diesel engine and the rougher ride is all I can get out of her.
