Hummm. Using your backhoe as an "ice breaker". That's new to me.

I always used an ax to break the ice in the cow trough. But then that was Florida ice:eek:

Nice! How are the trout doing? Do you feed them? I've heard that new ponds may not support fish until they have time to build up some water plants, insects and algae.

Trout are doing fine, no great. There have been no floaters and the ones caught were feisty and tasty! I feed them very little as the water temp is below 45. They get about 1/3 lb 2-3 times a week.

Thanks. Sounds like they are doing fine.

Went out tonight and caught this 18" pig! I can't believe how fast these fish can grow!

Enjoying the pictures. Simply beautiful!
What are your plans on trimming around the whole pond when the grasses start growing?
Sides look to steep for a lawn mower.

Nothing beats fresh fish, from the hook to the skillet in 10 minutes.

Someplace I can't recall we traveled in rural Germany, a restaurant out in the country. If you ordered trout they went out to their little holding pond and netted one. That's fresh!
