Major issue with wood-stove - Need advice!

Having just watched Otto on "Alaska: The Last Frontier" install something similar I have to wonder if that stack is not well pipe or similar steel pipe. It is hard to see but it looks like it goes below the deck and onto or into the ground. If they buried the bottom several feet it could explain the lack of supports/guy wires etc.

It seems like there is more chimney height than what is needed??? I know sometimes it helps being a bit taller but wouldn't there be a limit?

From the hillside in front of the house, the chimney pipe is about 2.5 to 3' higher than the roof. It also is about 1 foot from the outer wall.

It is very solid and that is about all I can say about it.

Thanks,
David

Thank you RS. Thank you very much...
Assuming you aren't being facetious, you're quite welcome :D

I'm not an idiot, in fact I've been one h3ll of an engineer in the past,
I don't doubt that one bit.

but I am a newbie being exposed to things I've never experienced and I come here for the advice and lessons I learn. I've learned a wealth of stuff since coming to TBN, and I'm not afraid to admit when I don't know something and ask those with more experience for advice.
TBN is a quite valuable resource ... as demonstrated by some of the replies in this thread.

Thank you very much.
Again, you're quite welcome.

If you need the crimping tool for the stove pipe ends, lemme know ... I've got one here I can toss over in your direction ... not like I'm using it or need it on a daily basis.
