I hope you have a better experience with your 6.0 than most have had. I hear the later model ones were better. How is your MPG with it compared to your V-10?

Yeah, I tried to find a good f450 v10 but they were really tough to find. This 6.0L has already had the EGR system replaced a few times, so I've already ordered the delete kit, just waiting for it to get here. People seem to think that it's actually a good engine once you address those problem areas.

Regarding MPGs... with the f250-4x4-v10-4.30's, I averaged around 11mpg empty, and around 8mpg towing 10k lbs. So far, the f450-4x4-dually-6.0L-4.88's is averaging 13.5mpg empty, and 9.5mpg towing 10k.

So, all things considered (mpg, cost of gas vs diesel fuel, extra $$ spent on oil/filters...) the cost to run is about the same. Not including the extra money of course that I'll spend on bulletproofing.

To be honest, both engines seem to handle 10k lbs about the same ... the v10 gasser obviously revs much higher to get the power, but the power is about the same been the two. But the heavier truck definitely handles the load better overall.

Last i knew the LS was doing fine. Probably somewhere close to 250 hours now.

Its so small it doesn't get used much. It does work well on one of our smaller augers though. It has been mainly just a farmyard tractor though. If we did not have a skidsteer on the farm it would definitely get used more.

I'm considering getting a mid sized track loader (tracked SS) in the next year or two for my landscaping (mainly land-shaping) business. Light lot-clearing, grading, seed/sod prep... with your experience, would you mind telling me what advantages I'll enjoy with a 60-80'ish HP tracked SS? What do you like more about your SS than the LS?

Well the skidsteer at the farm is one of a couple we own. We own a John Deere 250, a Cat 257B, a Bobcat 7753, Bobcat 753, and a Bobcat T250. We used to own a Bobcat864 on tracks, and one other one. With a skidsteer there are many advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages:
Turn on a dime,
More comfortable with sideload,
Get heaping buckets with ease,
Higher lift options,
With the hydraulic quick attach change attachments from in cab,
Faster cycle times than tractors
And others i am not thinking of right now.

Disadvantages:
Tears up terrain,
No 3PT or PTO,
harder to get in,
and many others im not thinking of right now.
I am sure others on here also have some experience and can chime in.
