Tractor Sizing Need advice on the size of tractor to look for

I had numerous heart-in-mouth moments learning to operate a tractor. Clearing 1-1/2 acres of woods is not an entry level task. I still favor having it cleared by professionals then the OP can go from there. Plenty of work left.

It only takes one major injury to ruin your life. Too many tractor injuries occur when folks are too ambitious, too early.

Where I am in Florida, an INSURED, BONDED tree service will work for $1,200 per day, with a crew of 4-6 people. I would think two days for knocking over trees so stumps are out and piling, so about $2,400 without taking any material off the property.

hiring it out is not nearly as much fun as bumping trees over with 8,000 pounds.

On the other hand, this technique makes a big mess of material at one end and so I've learned to prefer to make trees and brush into tiny bits with scary rotary tools.

Remind me never to buy a used tractor from you. Driving a tractor like it is a bulldozer is a great way to damage the FEL. Selective brush clearing is one thing but bashing the loader into unseen solid objects ain't what these tools were designed to handle.

Not to mention it makes a mess of the tractor, I've lost count of how many things you've busted off your tractor using like a bulldozer.

And I don't think the OP wants to pay $35000+ for a new NX6010 cab fully featured and ballasted.

Listening to his cackling while he abuses the tractor in his video does give one pause. There is a reason that most parents don't turn thirteen year old boys loose on expensive and powerful equipment. It's one thing to break a tool while using it properly, quite another to watch cringeworthy abuse of machinery.

Hey, it's his money... LOL it cracks me up listening to how happy he is in that video. I figure, if he wants to destroy his machine, or at least give it a college try, at least we'll learn along with him, the weak points of the tractor design. He's already shed light on apparent issues, especially the fuel tank location.

Understood. But that's why I wouldn't want to buy a used one from him.

Those were what, maybe 1" saplings? 2" tops. You think that was abuse? Are your machines tractors or trailer queen show cars? Good grief.

The saplings were not the issue. Those moved easily. Watch the video again and watch the machine shudder as it hits some unidentified object several times while the operator giggles. It occurs right after he moves away from the tree.

I'm not a wimp with my tractor and routinely lift the rear wheels while digging stumps. As you know however FELs on tractors are engineered for lifting, not ramming. Using a CUT as a bulldozer is asking for trouble.
