Oh I should have said if I can see someone carrying, I can choose to leave the premises. I've never seen anyone carrying btw.

Well, then, about 300,000 people are doing a real good job of concealing in Ohio. That number was from 2012, so, with expirations lagging new permits, its probably quite higher now, since in 2013 they granted about 95,000 new licenses and 45,000 renewals in Ohio.

Legal, concealed carry has never bothered me. You can pretty much count on folks that take the time to get permits to be law abiding folks, mostly with good common sense. Mostly.

You have to put it in perspective..... You stand a vastly greater chance of getting in a car accident than getting shot accidentally by a person carrying a firearm legally. I'd be more worried about those 3000# bullets flying around every minute of every day. ;)

Thanks for the good suggestion but I'm happy right here. This isn't a big problem for me, but I do enjoy expressing an opposing view.

Then we agree to disagree.:drink:

Lucky no one was hurt. Contrary to the article though...there are no accidental discharges, only negligent ones.

Unless maybee you own a REM 700 or a few other firearms that can be made to essentially fire on their own without intent. Like fiipping a safety off or a design that allows an external part to contact the seir, so when squeezing the gun or setting it down it can fire. Poor designs imho. There are a few examples of these issues for those that care to search. REM just settled a huge lawsuit about the same, large recall and trigger replacement program.

So, I'd call a discharge when you are not touching the trigger accidental..

Guns seem to be very dangerous. I know this guy is legal and all, but I would prefer people didn't carry them around me without me knowing.
If you can somehow get criminals to go along with this, you'd be on to something!

We had a gang shooting in Boston on election day at a polling place 100 yards from the mayor's house.

OK so most of them have common sense. But lets say 1 in 1000 don't. By your figures, that means there are 300 armed nut cases out there. Yikes!
Tom
Here's something that should alarm you even more. In MA in 2011, 125 committed suicide with guns. Over 400 committed suicede by drug overdoses, and over 6,600 tried to commit suicide by drug overdose.

Prescription and illegal drugs are ripping our society to pieces, but you choose to focus your concern on lawful concealed carry permit holders, not criminals? For every ten citizen ND I bet there are 10 police ND's.

Sorry if I offended someone with the word "Ignorant".
Here is the definition in case someone does not know. Ignorance is a state of being uninformed (lack of knowledge).

I had three friends who committed suicide with guns, one killed his infant son also. Killing someone with a gun is just SO quick and easy, I feel it is a considerable risk. Killing someone with a knife or baseball bat requires MUCH more determination and is often unsuccessful. Suicide and accidental shootings are real problems with guns.

I agree completely with you about the drug use. But that is another matter.

Your argument is emotional and personal. Look up the stats regarding deaths in this country and the facts should set you free.

I am actually quite knowledgeable about guns, crime, and safety. Not knowing this, you calling me ignorant was possibly your mistake.

The ignorant comment was not for you. It was a reference to something earlier. Someone's feelings got hurt.

Yes of course my opinions and arguments are personal. I think yours are too and that's OK. We both see the same facts and come to different opinions.
It's possible you personally know more people that stopped a crime with their gun. I don't personally know of any. If I could become a hero by shooting a bad guy at just the right time; I'd be happy to pull the trigger. However I'm choosing to give up this fantasy to protect my family from a gun accident.
