Is there a truck plow shortage?

In some areas, mostly sub urban, plows are getting rarer as bylaws prohibit pushing snow onto the street.
Around here with our serous winter accumulations blowers are also gaining over plows due to build up snow banks.
I could show you pics where the snow banks are 6 ft high!
My blower sports 4 ft high drift cutters on both sides just for that.

There's a happy Boss dealer in Potland after that load! He must have been just "window shopping" (after that purchase) at Cabela's!
(I recognize the parking lot):cool2:

Ha Ha, actually the plows were picked up at Quirk in Bangor, we met up with them again at Cabelas to transfer over a cooler full of 34 fresh live lobsters. There are some very unhappy Maine Lobsters in Fleetwood, PA tonight!

Sounds good to me. Should be a surplus of lightly used or leftover new plows for cheap on Craigslist come spring.

Not sure on that. It seems a lot of homeowners have started to get things under their own control when they can. Escalating costs to hire out work has forced many folks to make the investment into their own equipment for taking care of things on their own. Might be regional but up here it wasn't that many years ago when you could get your driveway plowed for $10 a storm....definition of a storm being start to finish (multi day is another story) Now the prices from what I'm told are up to around $35 a storm and they are counting each 3" as a storm....it's common to get over 12" per storm....how do you budget an extra $120+ per storm when you might get 5 storms in a month? It makes it easier to swallow for someone to spend the one time $3K for a plow and they know what it will cost them. Same things are carrying over for home repairs, lawn care, auto repairs.....the terrible economy woke a lot of people up that ordinarily would just pay others to do the work for them. $.02

That's true, but there always those people that buy some shiny new toy in the fall and sell it in the spring. I see it with snowmobiles/snowblowers every winter and motorcycles in the summer.

Don't forget generators in your list of bought, used once, then sold.

That's what the do at Wally world too....I called it the "rental center" when I got up to the checkout and then noticed the package had already been opened and retaped....they got all ticked when I said I wasn't purchasing a returned item. It's hard to believe how many people feel it's OK to use a new item to do a job and then return it for a full refund. I hate getting used stuff for full price, I refuse to buy it.
