Kinda depends on what you want to use it for. If it's for surfing the web an $80 Walmart Android Tablet will do just fine. We bought one, I think its a 10" RCA and it surfs the web just fine. It is however WIFI only, doesn't work on the Cellular networks. But then again, you don't need a wireless plan for it either. This is the one we bought, it was $79 at the store after Black Friday, I think it was Saturday after when we bought it.

If you are an iOS dev like I am you should know that iOS 8.2 is going to address the issues with iPad 2 and iPhone 4s. Along with patching most of the bugs. I do think that maybe apple should have blocked the 4s and iPad 2 from updates until they got the iOS working properly on them but iOS 8 has too many features to just pass up if you can use it.
Lollipop? Thought it was kitkat? Shows what I know, I'm new to droid, I just got a next book 8 tablet with jelkybean wondering if it can or needs to be upgraded, I'm a win is user so android is foreign to me
My iPad2 with the latest OS upgrade now loads websites at the speed of my old dialup connection. Incredible. It was fine with OS7. Now, you actually have to decide if the probability of the interesting looking website is worth waiting 30 seconds or so to load, if you're lucky enough that it doesn't stall indefinitely. Just like 15 years ago. Many other quirks too. This from Apple. Nice to hear from insiders on TBN that 8.2 will address this.
Well it seems that it's a 95%+ iPad vote. I have the iPhone but am not a diehard guy. Thanks for the pointers on the wifi and cellular data. I am on AT&T. Only reliable carrier in the area
Ok next questions. What can I do on an iPad? Is it only good for surfing the internet or can it be used for more? Would I be as well off getting another laptop?
