That's a really neat idea. I wonder if my little BH92 attachment would have enough power for something like that?

I'm not sure why they put the QA on the hoe, because it appears to have the original bushings/pins in it, and the hoe is very tight, so I don't think it was used much. It actually had a ditch bucket (no teeth) on it when I first saw it, so I had the dealer put a 24" digging bucket on it. I'm looking at getting a log splitter/grapple for it, so the QA should save me some time switching. This is what I'm considering:

Gotcha, congratulations!
The 580 hoes are tough!
I spent 28 years running around in a tire truck fixing tires on rental equipment on jobsites, been out of the tire buisness for about 12 years.
The work that I did was about 95% for rental companies, I'll say again these hoes are tough!

They were pretty much trouble free other than a blown HYD hose here or there.
It seems like they sold them off about 4000 to 5000 hours for the newer model, not that there was anything wrong with them, but paying folks want to rent newer equipment.

I wouldn't worry about the hours oh that unit, that rig should last you as long as you want to keep it.
Double up on the oil changes for 3 or 4 times to make sure its flushed out good.

That is exactly the plan! I'll probably switch to synthetic after I'm sure it's flushed out.

Ha, that's a good question! I haven't decided yet...been going back and forth, reading a whole bunch on the topic, and I'm still not sure.

For your machine, since it will have a warranty, and is Tier IV (changes oil requirements) I'd simply go with whatever your dealer recommends. They're not going to suggest anything that won't do a good job, and it makes it harder for them to give you grief if you have a warranty claim. It's probably not the cheapest way to go about it, but I think it's cheap insurance.

I run Rotella T6 5W-40 in my 6.7L Ford PU. Not sure what the oil requirements are for the tractor yet. Just wondering what others are using.

Rotella T6 is good stuff....lots of folks here say they use it. It's actually one I may consider for the BH, but it's a different viscosity than they spec as standard.
