Belarus tractors

Last I had heard the Minsk Tractor Factory was the largest square foot building in the world. That was like 5-10 years ago, so I don't know if it's still true (or if it was really 100% true at the time).

Probably not, for the longest time the Pentagon was the largest by square footage. Depending on how you look at it you can come up with different lists, Boeing has the largest manufacturing building.

10 Largest Buildings in the World

Here is a list of "tech" buildings that can be seen from space. Foxconn is like the world largest roach motel from the stand point once you enter you never leave. As many as one million people working and living at there place in China. You eat sleep and work all at one place.

I probably won't ever buy an MTZ tractor, but I bet their attachments are very well (heavy) built and will probably be priced very competitively.

My sister set up assembly lines at Foxconn for the original Apple Airbook and some iPods. She says the place is a trip, still dislikes Apple's "dragon ladies" and does not regret turning Apple's job offer for five times as much as she earns today down to not work with them.

Well I got a first hand look at these new Belarus's under the MTZ name now in North America at a Farm trade show in Red Deer Alberta a couple weeks back. They had a 122hp model there which their biggest 4cyl model but the sales rep said on the dyno it put out 130 hp. They have much bigger 6cyl. ones too but only had this one model there. Over all yeah its a big improvement over my old 825 that's for sure but it comes with a price. Wouldn't be so bad if the Cdn. dollar hadn't dropped off so much, state side their cheaper of course. I see even Belarus is going to electric over hyd. switches in the cab for MFD, Diff lock and pto. New dash too and better hood. Fellow said they out sourced the injection pump and injectors to meet emissions. Still mechanical though NO electronics/emission controls so far.

They had a price comparison done that was interesting its on the website too vs lower cost basic tractors from many brands.

My first larger tractor had the name International on the side but was made by Belarus. (it was Blue) I think the top RPM was about 1,800 and in high every gear and bearing on it was load. My uncle use to say a 440 plymouth was a good engine but the 318 was carved out with a axe. Well this tractor was carved out with a axe. Sorry Russia USA wins again.

I don't remember the model, I got it on a trade deal with several other items. I got the tractor in about 1993 I don't remember the year but it was old then. It was so heavy it over loaded my trailer so i had to drive it home. After researching it I found it was a Belarus it was blue with a white international on the hood. I sold it to a guy from Oklahoma that seemed to know a lot about them.

Good job Arie hardly anything is built in the U.S.A anymore. I work on diesels for a living and most all new engines come from Asia even Cummins with exception to a few from Europe [ Lister Petter, Duetz, VM motori and a few more smaller companies ] I would consider buying a new Belarus. I have had good luck with mine but they are the air cooled [ look a lot like a Duetz F4L910] models with less to worry about. Do not know much about the larger sizes 500 models and up but the smaller 400 series and below are tough enough for me [ I used mine to clear a hard wood lot 10 acres]. Would like to see better manuals on your website for the smaller units. The simpler a machine is built the better it is from my experience 20 years in the offshore oil fields.

Belarus used to be a nightmare! Especially the electrical system. They were so bad that czechoslovakia refused to allow them into their country.
This was 'bout 30 yrs ago. I've read a report by someone who went to the factory and reported what he saw, enough to put anyone off.
I don't know if it's any different now or even if they still make them. Russian technology could not compete once the frontiers opened up.
They were tough and could be repaired and they were over and over and over :)

Minsk Tractor Works/Factory remains open and is one of the largest buildings on earth. Czechoslovakia also may have had a less then honorable reason to avoid importing them, protecting Zetor.
