What other single endeavor brought more...in the way of things that Americans take advantage of every day...?
Not to minimize the advances brought out of the space race.
But here's one that was, i think, very important.
Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944, made all of the technological and economic advancements possible. We're still reaping benefits. We need to educate our people.
Back to UFO's, i've spent a great deal of my earlier years outside and have seen a number of UFOs.
One was out towards Yakima gun range, late evening, walking back to the rig after hunting, The sky was a deep red and sun was long set below the horizon, when a number of lights appeared up in sky, low close to the horizon. First light appeared, then a second, a third, a fourth, etc. They followed each other in a falling arc to the ground then disappeared. Buddy i was with was, not exactly freaking out, but pretty excited say's something like, 'holy s**t what was that!'. I told him it must have been a herd of helicopters, turning and landing with a spot light becoming visible. He said my explanation didn't work for him. Now both of us saw UFOs, but reached different conclusions.
Another was back in the 80s, late night, dark no moon, no artificial light. Two of us were standing about 10-15 feet apart, talking when i noticed movement coming from above and behind, right over my head. I said, look, look and pointed at the object. The object was occulting the stars, it was delta shaped, two slight glowing spots on the long trailing edge. No sound, appeared to be moving at a good speed. We talked about it and thought because we couldn't hear anything and the speed of movement, either very large and a long distance up in the air and moving at an incredibly high speed, or closer and a more reasonable size and speed but still with out sound that reach us. Still don't know what we saw, but years later i saw a B-2 and did a double take.
