Oh contraire. Evolution is far more difficult to support than Creation. Evolution depends upon the acceptance of "Everything from Nothing." There are more gaps in that ludicrous theory than an old picket fence.
It takes a spark to light a fire...unless you have some linseed rags...!

Agreed. This is TRAGIC. The reasoning displayed in this twisted logic can be found in the concepts of; "It takes a village." and "Redistribution of Wealth."

I encourage almost all parents to seek out private education and make the sacrifices required for funding.

If you're against the village concept, you can't seriously support letting others teach your kid anything.

When we were kids, we roamed in packs like wild animals, but someone else's mom was always keeping an eye on us. As were all of the neighbors. Almost all parents were involved in the raising of almost all of the neighborhood kids. And my folks mentored many kids, as my folks were teachers and artists and such. That's the village concept and it works. You are your brother's keeper.

Redistribution of wealth... we'd probably agree on. ;)

And were did computers come from?... Bletchly Park... WWII.. Alan Turning... The ultra project. breaking **** codes.. That and the big one at MIT used to compute shell trajectories during WWII.. oh sure you could call Napiers Bones a computer, I suppose. but the big advancemnts in computing hardware and concepts as we know it came from World War II..

Although we all know the real driver of the internet technology we all enjoy is (contrary to popular mention of a certain former vice president) pornography.

I very much agree with this. That's how I was raised also. I had many, many parents checking my every move. I couldn't go to the Mall (no malls in my youth) and act like an idiot and get by with it. Someone would smack me up side the head and/or report my behavior to my Mom and/or Dad.

I'll not express this very well, but here goes.

As to the discussion of which creates more technology, War or NASA. Both are trying to escape the same inevitable truth. We will destroy our selves if left here alone. Both have the same conquer or be conquered mentality. If life was all love-ins and big hugs here on Earth, neither would be needed. But it's not. NASA is frantically looking for a way to escape Earth. WAR realizes that escapes is probably not possible so it wants to be the last one standing. Different approaches, same goal.

IMO...
Growing up in the shadow of the 'greatest generation' was wonderful...when just about any kid could put the chain back on their bicycle...and mastering a pinball machine was supreme...
Don't know if life in today's world is harder on parents or their offspring but it seems like it was much easier when we were kids...a lot of family/society values have gone the way of telephone booths since the age of MTV etc...!

What other single endeavor brought more...in the way of things that Americans take advantage of every day...?
Not to minimize the advances brought out of the space race.

But here's one that was, i think, very important.
Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944, made all of the technological and economic advancements possible. We're still reaping benefits. We need to educate our people.

Back to UFO's, i've spent a great deal of my earlier years outside and have seen a number of UFOs.

One was out towards Yakima gun range, late evening, walking back to the rig after hunting, The sky was a deep red and sun was long set below the horizon, when a number of lights appeared up in sky, low close to the horizon. First light appeared, then a second, a third, a fourth, etc. They followed each other in a falling arc to the ground then disappeared. Buddy i was with was, not exactly freaking out, but pretty excited say's something like, 'holy s**t what was that!'. I told him it must have been a herd of helicopters, turning and landing with a spot light becoming visible. He said my explanation didn't work for him. Now both of us saw UFOs, but reached different conclusions.

Another was back in the 80s, late night, dark no moon, no artificial light. Two of us were standing about 10-15 feet apart, talking when i noticed movement coming from above and behind, right over my head. I said, look, look and pointed at the object. The object was occulting the stars, it was delta shaped, two slight glowing spots on the long trailing edge. No sound, appeared to be moving at a good speed. We talked about it and thought because we couldn't hear anything and the speed of movement, either very large and a long distance up in the air and moving at an incredibly high speed, or closer and a more reasonable size and speed but still with out sound that reach us. Still don't know what we saw, but years later i saw a B-2 and did a double take.

In reality, America's space program (NASA) is really just an arm of the DOD...so it is easy to look at the Apollo program as a act of a cold war...it was an effort that had the backing of the populous...

...It's a shame that other than the Apollo space program...in my lifetime (other than the "miracle on ice") the only other happening that brought America together was the 911 attack...

What America lacks most is leadership that is capable of bringing that same type of unification and patriotism...
