7 Million Keurig Mini Plus Recalled Due to Burn Hazard!

I had to share this because my neighbor just got theirs for Christmas and got burned after their 3rd use!!!! Over 90 reported Burn Related Injuries already and this goes back as far as 2009. :confused2: Stay safe I hope no one who owns one experiences any injuries.

Wow, do I fell dumb. I thought it odd a tractor manufacturer could recall 7 million tractors and I had never heard of the brand. It never occurred to me it was a coffee maker :ashamed:

This week, I was talking with a relative who also has an older Keurig. Sounds like (no, in this case I'm not being sarcastic) they have bumped up the brew temperature in the new ones.

But, they've also eliminated the fill-it-yourself stainless steel pod replacement basket, AND added pod security checks (inkjet like). Many folks like the pod convenience, but given the amount of coffee I drink, I'll pass on buying K's.

The Keurig 2.0 brewer security check can be easily circumvented via a cutting part of the top off a 2.0 K cup and taping it over the sensor. This will allow you to use 1.0 K cups and the fill your own plastic/metal cups.

I still have a 1.0 model, so I haven't personally tried this but there are videos of it on Youtube.

The french press, which makes 1 cup at a time, was patented in 1929. The Chemex coffee maker, which has a 3 cup model, was invented in 1941.

Granted, the french press wasn't really a mass market item, but Chemex was, and is.

Same here! We roast our beans twice a week for maximum freshness, grind daily, and use cheap, Mr. Coffee brewers. I'd rather put my money into the beans, rather than a more expensive way to make water hot.
