Neighbor lets dogs out to do their business in my yard?

Might look into it and see if you can get the DEA involved it might fix some of the issues... I know my loons next to me used to be big dopers but I have not seen anything growing that would be illegal here in Ohio... Though any time I'm entertaining or working in the yard closest to them they start up leaf blowers and run for hours at a time without IT moving.. My other half caught the guy half staring thru the bushes couple summers ago and asked him if he needed any help as he appeared to be wanting something...

I don't think Spiker was referring to all rescuers. Only the ones that ARE odd ball. It was an odd ball that was a rescuer. Thus, a rescue type odd ball.

Have you ever noticed MOST of the really bad (dozens of animals or even hundreds of them) animal abuse cases started out as someone saying well we had to RESCUE this horse or (insert critter of hoarder's choice)???

It is in the news regularly where ASPCA or county/state has to remove all these dead or dieing animals because of such individuals (yes they ALL think they are doing these critters some big favor...) Usually there are several interviews where people come out to say well they had all these good intentions...

Do you mean one of those people who give of themselves to relieve the suffering, neglect and abuse of a few of God's precious creations? Do you mean one of those people who find it appalling to see dogs dumped in the country, starving near dumpsters, chained to a backyard stake or left out in the freezing rain? Do you mean one of those people who give so much of themselves in an unending effort to repair some of the damage caused by selfish, lazy, cruel and ignorant pet owners that see their animals as unworthy of care? Yes, by your brainless and heartless comment, I'm sure you see those people as ODD.

The type that takes in dozens of animals then lets them roam all over, one of those odd balls that lets their dogs lick their tong and open mouth kisses them. Usually right after the dog licks it's own @$$, maybe you like that too... So YES rescue type odd ball!

Have you tried a live trap? I've caught a number of strays by setting a trap out overnight.

I have actively been engaged with animal rescue for several years. My wife and I have probably saved 40 or 50 dogs and cats. They are placed in our local Rescue Shelter, given any/all medical care they need, all vaccinations and a spay or neuter. NONE of them are euthanized unless they are too injured or too ill to save. While it only takes about a 90 percent rate for a shelter to call itself "no kill", I suspect we are closer to 99+ percent. Many "shelters" claim to be no-kill but they do it by only killing "non-adoptable" animals ... of course that is their definition and makes them liars. If we send a female in for a spay and she is found to be pregnant, the animal is stitched up and allowed to deliver. We save as many as can be saved. I drove 12 hours to Denver just to retrieve an animal that had been adopted from us and the new owner was going to have it euthanized. I drove 5 hours to Kansas City to retrieve a dog that had found after escaping its adoptive owner at a highway rest stop. Does this make me an Odd Ball? If it does, I couldn't be more proud. These animals have done nothing to deserve neglect, abuse or abandonment. They should not live in pain or fear. They are part of the Creation of which we are to be Good Stewards. Anyone who would abuse an animal is probably a low-life in many other ways as well. After alllllllllll of that ......... I am NOT a PETA person. Animals are not people. All I'm saying is; all animals - even those we use for food - deserve to be treated with respect.

Well said and well thought out. This is how you define a good person in life.
We have trapped a dog in a big cage before and it was fairly easy with hot dogs for bait. It had lived in the cornfields for the summer and was skin and bones. A local guy adopted that Golden Retriever and it had a good life.

Very true. I believe the way people treat animals is the way they tend to treat humans.
