Bump up lift capacity of L3400/LA463 Loader

/ Bump up lift capacity of L3400/LA463 Loader #191
Got directed here from another thread.

I want to check and, if required, bump up the pressure for my L4330, which according to the WSM, the system pressure should be: 2,633 to 2,775 psi (Specification, page 11, Hydraulic System/System Pressure).

Looking up the parts at McMaster, I get them for right around $50 for a liquid filled pressure gauge plus the connectors, plus I would need to add shipping.

So, for a one time use part (right?), I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to loan their pressure gauge with shipping paid both ways? Or is it worth it to get because I'll end up using it again - anyone know?

2nd question: Where does this gauge get hooked up? At the base of the FEL control level with the four pressure hoses that go into/out of?

3rd: Some people are saying you need to add a shim/washer, some are saying they just tightened the relief valve, no shims needed. Which is it? Or are we talking different models and I missed it?

Thanks, I really want to check and bump up my pressure if needed but also don't want to mess it up either!

Thanks,

Thanks,

how about this

3000 PSI 2.5" LF LM GAUGE

3/8 X 1/4 NPTF COUPLER

3/8" X 12" 3/8 NPTM X 3/8 NPTM 3000 PSI HYD HOSE

and what ever quick coupler male end you need for your Kubota that takes a 3/8 NPT male end. or an adapter if needed. But the whole thing should be a lot less than $50.

Kens bolt on hooks sells a nice gauge and has a nice video on YouTube on how todo it. He is also

I believe he is also a sponsor on tBN. I bought one Its very nice and of good quality complete with the conector you need and I thought at a fair price. Check it out just google kens bolt on hooks.

I have a tee on mine and leave it on the lift circuit. You get a good idea how much you are lifting that way.

I'll send you a PM... What part of TN? Just got back from driving from Chattanooga through Knoxville and up I-81 into VA.

Remove a FEL hose and replace it with gauge, push lever. View attachment 405093

That was me, I only added 150# and it was an accident, laying upside down, I turned the wrench in the wrong direction. It moved pretty easy so I checked the pressure again and it was close enough.

Is the relief setting the same for the rear remotes and the fel?

I thought about that as I was typing my reply... I don't know. Anyone else???

The relief valve should be the first component logically inline coming out of the pump. The valve opens at the specified pressure, preventing anything in the system from ever attaining a higher pressure. To primarily protects the pump, but secondarily protects everything else.

You could install another pressure relied downstream to decrease the max pressure downstream components got, but there isn't much point in this application.

I'm sure you could get higher pressures applying pressure to the cylinders when the spool is closed, but that's not a huge concern.

My worry is *IF* the FEL has it's own pressure relief valve that's set lower than the rest of the tractor, I might not be measuring the correct PSI for the tractor.

So I guess the question should be: is there another pressure relief valve integrated into the FEL controls for the basic L?

{EDIT} just read the loader manual, no mention of any relief valve...
