I traded in my BX2350 that I bought new in 2009 on a new BX25D-1. I used it for the first time today. I dug a 20" trench 90' long for my propane line. I also buried what was left of a brush pile I had burned and a few other small things.

Congratulations on a fine new piece of equipment. Don't forget to update your profile with the new ride. Looks like you got a great first day's use out of it.

Put a Piranha Tooth Bar on it and you will love it more!

 The greatest tool made for a new under construction homeowner. You need a RatchetRake now which is my number three add on. I also have hook on bucket forks which I use from time to time.
Fel 1st, BH 2nd and RR 3rd. The RR will leave it smooth enough to drop grass seed and hooks on in near one minute and off in less time by yourself. I also does a great job with brush and small trees/underbrush removal/clean up and of course BH will do any digging needed. I use my BH to turn gardens on rental property since I sold my tiller.
Ky is now 18" deep after many years at 12". My brother lived in Alaska and they go several feet deep. Guess one matches the depth to where they live. A bit extra when one has the proper tool is OK.

I'm in Cambridge Ontario and they only went below the sod with the line from the tank to the house?

Good luck with the new machine. I don't know if that propane line is metallic. If it isn't, be sure to put some of that metallic tape on the top before your bury it. This way, the Check Before You Dig Guys can find it in the future with their sensor.

Thanks for all the comments!

We used yellow poly line. I buried it around 20" deep and then covered it with about 4" of soil. I then laid an insulated copper wire in the trench with it coming up at the ends for future locates. The idea on burying it slightly higher is that if you get carried away digging on top of it you will hit the "locate" wire first and realize what you're about to dig into...

One of those tooth bars is on my wish list. I should of bought one over a year ago when I started working on my new property!

My main priority now is to build a ripper tooth or a bracket to mount a boxblade ripper to the BH. I have a few big stumps to take out so I can build a metal building to store my tractor, implements, truck, and project car. That way my attached garage doesn't get too crowded!

Nice photos. Your photobucket album has some great shots from aircraft. What are the switch panels for you have in the photobucket album? Simulator?

Thanks meos! I built my own basic flight simulator, that is probably what the panels are. I would have to look to see for sure.

Aviation is one of my hobbies that I enjoy very much.

I believe that pilot lost his engine on final. He put it down in my friends wheat pasture which is about a half mile from the runway at KSNL. My friend told me about it and I took some pictures. The pilot done an excellent job because that was one of the only smooth fields around. The interstate was about 1500' north of the landing spot and he wasn't too far from the fence to the south of him. Tight fit!

I just looked at the pictures again and it appears his prop was turning when he impacted so I'm not 100% sure what happened. He was also close to some 138kV transmission lines too!!

Great tractor and a beautiful home .

Congrats on the new tractor, Great looking home you are building too...... Propane lines here only have to be 18", plastic or metal, doesn't matter.

really? 20" deep?
Has to be at least 48" in Ontario

Yup, mine was put in maybe 4 inches under the sod, 3/8" copper tubing, but that was 24 years ago.
Maybe different regulations for different municipalities ???

A slight thread diversion-emergency landing

This is the synopsis of that emergency landing:

On May 14, 2012, approximately 1330 central daylight time, a Piper PA-24-250 airplane, N7171P, was substantially damaged during a forced landing to a field near Shawnee, Oklahoma. The private pilot was not injured. The airplane was registered to and operated by a private individual under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a ferry flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the flight, which operated without a flight plan. The flight originated from Sundance Airpark (KHSD), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, approximately 1315, and was en route to Shawnee Regional Airport (KSNL), Shawnee, Oklahoma.

On final approach, the pilot lowered the landing gear handle; however, he did not receive confirmation that the landing gear was down and locked. The pilot stated that "a lot of force" was required to conduct the manual gear override, but he was not able to get the handle up. Shortly thereafter, the engine lost power. The pilot performed a gear up, forced landing to a field. During the landing, the right wing was buckled and the firewall was wrinkled.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration inspector who traveled to the scene, the mixture cable was bent and would not move. The routing of the mixture cable did not match assembly drawings. The mixture cable was found separated from its last clamp prior to the carburetor mixture control and the mixture control was found in the cutoff position. He also noted that several clamps normally used to route the mixture cable were not present. A grease fitting on the over center link for the nose landing gear was in line with the bend in the mixture cable.

According to the pilot, the engine had just been removed and reinstalled for an engine overhaul.

Now back to Tractors, and quit fooling around!!

Great investigative work Byrd!

I ordered a Pirahna tooth bar and skid plate from BXpanded today. I would like to build my own skid plate but I'm strapped for time and I don't have a place of my own to build it right now. I'm looking forward to trying out the tooth bar, it seems everyone loves them.
