Barn Cat?

In my opinion, what you lack is the ability to understand that it might be acceptable to someone, if it's not acceptable to you.

Animals suffering has been fabricated in this thread.

And up until now no one has talked about beating their dog, cat or any other animal, again fabricated by you.

Again, the reason this thread is short of acceptance is because of your lack of it. Not the OP's. Not mine. Yours.

IMO...Be it physical abuse or neglect...it is still irresponsible and unacceptable...I don't care whether someone else thinks it's acceptable or not...it's still abuse and IMO anyone that condones or practices it proves they are an ignorant waste of oxygen...

To me having an animal spayed or neutered is abuse! What is ALL ANIMALS #1 priority even above survival is reproduction so YOU are the one who is going against nature. Look at May Flys they are born WITHOUT stomachs only reproductive organs so they can spawn, breed and maintain the species.

How many people (VETS) do you know or operations have you seen where the spay/neuter process has been done>? My neighbor is a VET and works part time in a mobile vet van for county doing these low cost/free fixes. He does hundreds of pets every month or two, the standard practice is to strap the pets down belly up and cut them open often with little to no pain killer. Same with yanking out the claws on cats or dogs Most times they cut off tails dew claws and cats claws with no pain meds...

To me that is what is wrong!!

My profile pic is my dog, (7 years old now & 6 mo in pic he is setting on couch right beside me!) We had him fixed this summer because of an enlarged testi/prostate. He was in bad shape for several days afterwords as one was undecended and the doc had to double dose him (knockout drugs) and cut him open in 3 spots to find the one that was up inside. Had he not been swelling up he would never have had it be fixed, only his discomfort lead us to fix him in hopes it would help him feel better. So far it seems to have been a wash as for a week he was in rather bad shape, and was over a month healing up from the operations.

"Going against nature"...you mean like abortions, birth control, vaccinations etc?
IMO abuse of any creature is unacceptable (and in a lot of cases criminal)...You say "nature"...sorry to inform you but any animal that has been domesticated (including farm animals etc) have already lost a good part of their (natural) "nature"...
The need to spay or neuter domestic cats, dogs etc...evolved not from trying to go against nature it is merely the most logical way to deal with ignorant, irresponsible animal owners/keepers....
Any vet that would do what you have suggested "...with no pain meds..." is a quack vet and should face criminal charges...

IMO the introduction of any NON-native animals like domestic dogs, cats, reptiles etc...entirely changes the "rules of nature"...!

I have a couple owls roosting occasionally in the barn, so I think I will also put in a couple owl houses for the longterm. If the owls enjoy the cats eventually, that's the chain of life, more-so than their being euthanized by the local shelter.

I dont doubt this can happen but I'd like to see some owl swoop down on Ole Tom here, he is a lean mean 17 pounds, I believe that owl would never soar again

I'll stick with my cats, all female, all fixed, three are teenager kittens, the fourth an adult. When I work in the shop, they leave me alone. When I take a rest (which is often since a) I'm retired; b) not on a clock and c) my wife can't see me), the three kittens/teenagers come running to get their daily dose of rubbin' and lovin' It's getting so that all they have to do is get near me and they start purring!

Agreed. My wife worked for a large animal vet who would on a "slow week" send out a vet and a student intern to their clients (dairy farms) to do spay and neuter days where they would spay or neuter any cats on the farm and give them their shots for the cost of materials.
They always put the cats (most of whom would probably qualify as feral and were only caught because the farm used livetraps with cat food in them) under sedation before operating on them.

Now we have progressed to the point that anyone that doesn't agree with you are ignorant and a waste of oxygen. What do you suggest for us, termination??

It's too bad there are not programs that spay and neuter humans that think it's acceptable to abuse/neglect/abandon their animals (of any kind).

...The human gene pool would be much better off...!

Again, we've drifted off track and now are abusing, neglecting and abandoning our animals.

Maybe I need to reread this whole thread. Maybe I missed some terrible stuff that you and Mossroad read?? If so I apologize.

If you think that in any sense of the word it is "acceptable" to abuse animals...then yes...but not before you suffer the same abuse...!
